I'm just speaking from my experience, as well as a few other members.
These cars have a way of doing one thing to one person, something entirely different for another person.

Be sure to give it time to fully download, there are more than 3000 pages. Also thanx to our astute Forum Members that have posted this.
For the Heated Seats, go to section 8G. Go to page 25 for electrical and page 36 for individual seat problems.
FYI: SAVE this to your computer and save $$$$. This manual covers the entire vehicle and the INDEX is fine tuned for individual problems.
All other systems, ie brakes, fuel, etc are listed by their own sections.
Can't really thank FANNY MAE for this, but hope it keeps your FREDDIE MAC buns warm

The heated seats are switched from heating stage two to heating
stage one automatically after 5 minutes and completely
switched off after approximately 30 minutes of continuous
operation. Heating stage one (1) is indicated by a single LED
being illuminated within the switch and heating stage two (2) is
indicated by two LEDs being illuminated. If the battery voltage
drops below 11 volts, the heated seats are deactivated automatically
and are prevented from being activated again until
sufficient battery voltage is available. This state is indicated by
a flashing LED in the heated seat switch. The heated seat elements
are bonded to either the seat cushions or seat covers
and are serviced only with their respective assemblies.

DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING
Before testing the individual components of the heated seat system, ensure the battery is fully charged, then check
the following:
the following:
²
If the heated seat switch LED indicators do not illuminate with the ignition switch in the ACC or ON/RUN
position and the switch pressed, check fuse 1 and fuse 24 in the Underhood Accessory Fuse Block. If OK, see
heated seat electrical diagnostics in this section. Refer to Page 8G-35. If not OK, repair the shorted circuit or
component as required and replace the fuse.

heated seat electrical diagnostics in this section. Refer to Page 8G-35. If not OK, repair the shorted circuit or
component as required and replace the fuse.
²
If the heated seat switch LED indicators illuminate but the heating elements do not heat, inspect the heated
seat system harness connections for looseness or corrosion. Clean and tighten all the connections to ensure
proper circuit continuity and ground paths as necessary, then retest the system. For complete heated seat
diagnosis, see heated seat diagnostics in this section. Refer to Page 8G-35.

Note: The heated seat system utilizes a unique low voltage cut-off feature. This feature deactivates the
power seat system anytime the available system voltage is below 11 volts. Be certain to check the vehicle
electrical system for proper operation anytime the heated seat system appears inoperable.

What the heck do you know about Crossfires......don't you own a Calillac?
That's the only Cadillac I actually like with the "new" styling. How you liking that XLR so far?.......bet the heated seats work on that one!

I replaced one of the heating elements in the seat cushion on the drivers side, and that made no difference. According to two dealers I need to replace the whole seat cushion - there are no other fixes availabe - about $400 for a new cushion assembly.
I know that somewhere on here there is a write-up from somebody who replaced the whole heating pad with an aftermarket piece - anybody know who wrote it, or where it is? - I've searched and searched.
I may attempt to bypass the element that's not working and cut it out of the loop altogether - I think the elements are wired in serial so I should be able to do this. Hopefully it's one of the side bolster pads and not the main center piece.

Here's one site for aftermarket heating pads - I'm assuming they could just be spliced into the existing power line into the seat.

I heard that the seat heater failure is actually caused by a virus that is carried by Crossfire owners in the seat of their pants. So it can be carried from one car to another. SO I'd disinfect that XLR seat real good!
