Default best exhaust

Im going to do a complete dual exhaust from the headers back (keeping the stock headers) replacing the entire stock system. I have a srt and i am wondering what people think is the best set up for this. Should i go borla all the way or borla muffler and flowmaster cats. Or some other combo i have no idea what sounds better than the other and i dont want to waste my money for a exhaust system thats not going to do anything. Thanks guys and any knowledge that you can give me.

I never heard the borla in person on our car, but my magnaflow sounds perfect. PS leave the cats alone, itll be more trouble than its worth.

I have no clue what this sounds like, but they get an A+ for design. I picked up this pic somewhere off the forum. If its yours, speak up!

I've been asking the same thing. There was a thread where MAYAman said he would load the clip, but have never followed though to my knowledge. I'll try to send him a PM to see where he is at with this.

That's a picure of my exhaust system. I had a local muffler shop fabricate it for me about a year ago. The muffler is some gypsy (off brand) affair, but it sounds great.

There is, however, that dratted drone between 2000 and 2700 RPM.

The whole deal cost me $189.

Don, Looks good. What scares me about changing my OEM is the dreaded drone...

James,

Several months ago, there was a thread on the forum in which the author suggested a pair of resonators to reduce the drone.

Well, I went ahead and had a pair of 8" resonators installed; one on each pipe.

The result: marginal, if that. I think some of the more expensive mufflers will be more effecive in controlling the drone. But then, there are some owners who remove the muffler completely. I wonder how that sounds????

I had mine modded several months back and I've gotten used to the sound which is actually pretty awesome with the rear cats & resonator removed using my stock muffler on my SRT-6. Some peeps will hear it at the dyno in Ft Lauderdale on January 17th. My buddy, who has his own Auto shop in Orlando and loves to TIG weld, did a great job installing everything and making it look nice and clean. I highly recommend this setup which has helped with my great track times with just a few mods. Good luck with what ever you do and can't wait to see your results!

I have been wanting to get the Borla system and like all you, I haven't been able to hear what it is like. Maybe I will just get it and show everyone. I also want to keep my stock tips but for some reason there is small amount of rust on them. I can't understand how a garage kept '07 would have rust already. Anyone know if i can get new tips and how much they would cost?

I have the borla and it's great. It still has thedrone at 2000 rpm like all the others. Have not been able to get a sound clip though.

Maya, your PM box is full. I tried PMing you but it won't take anymore messages until you clean it up a little.

Hi Mayaman, I have a Borla system installed on Feb. 2007 with the resonator and it was even quiter of the original system, I went to a custom exhaust shop and had the resonator removed and now it sound great, I suggest anyone that has a Borla system go to a custom exhaust shop and remove the resonator, you'll be a much happier person.

I have a Borla system, once you see the impressive tips that it comes with it, you won't want to change. also go to a custom exhaust shop and do not intall the resonator, otherwise you will spend more money afterward to have remove. The Borla system out of the box with the resonator it's quieter of the original system, do yourself a favor and save some money do not install the system with the resonator, your are going to thank me later.

I like the idea, but those are way too big in my opinion. I'd have to see it in person.
