pre and post feb 04 flywheels
hey all,
ive got a pre feb 04 manual xfire 3.2 coupe (112 engine), and the engine has let go.
now i've purchased a used replacement engine out of an auto 06 model.
but the problem ive got is that the flywheel bolts dont all line up.
at first i thought it was because there was a difference between the auto and manual engines.
ive called chrysler UK and they've said that there are 2 flywheels available, pre and post feb 04.
each one is £600 a pop and there is a no returns policy. so buying them both to compare is outta the question.
so can any one help verify that there is a bolt pattern change?? pictures of the crank or flywheel would be greatly appreciated.
pre 04 has equidistanced spaced bolts, whereas the post 04 has offset bolt pattern. but is it an auto to manual difference or a year difference.

The build date on the door of your car will tell you what you had on your car originally. Can you find out where the engine you bought came from, i.e. build date?
HDDP posted something about flywheels on his SRT6 engine install. Pics also. I havent seen him on for quite some time but his thread might give you some help.

the 2 front cylinders have scored the living life out of the cylinder walls.
chrysler want £13,000 plus vat for a new engine.

just to let everyone know. i can 100% say that mercedes changed the flywheel bolt pattern pre and post feb 04

let us know what you find out, Mercedes put some cheap parts into the crossfire's to keep thier cost down, I wonder if there is any thickness difference?
This car is a mixture of non-OEM and oem Benz parts, so beware. stuff will fail, that's why these cars have no value and aren't worth more than $10,000 US new IMO. cheap *** german bean counters.. arhhh
Oh yeah the c230 flyweel was needed to adapt the AMG motor to the manual trans, I guess the rear crank of the AMG was designed for an auto trans.
