Default Nitrous

Hi, I was wondering if someone knew a little bit about nitrous... I was told that we cant pass 44% of the car's horsepower. Is that true? so it would give me approximately 300 hp when on the nitrous. Can it me damageable for the engine or tranmission or clutch? Can it withstand all that boost? Would I need something (ex: a higher output gas pump) to modify so the car runs fine? By the way, I have a limited.

Thanks
David

Where are you located?

I can write a long topic on this, but I have before on this forum.

Give me a call:732-649-9597 and I'd be happy to answer each and every question you have about NOS on this motor.

Realistically a 75 wet shot is the safest you should go unless you know what you are doing though.

You could take it as many things....... "yes" not being one of them though.

These engines cost too much to play with something that you know nothing about. Not trying to insult you, but from reading your first post, I get the impression that you are not the most mechanically inclined. Nitrous is a great way to make your engine fit loosely into a 5 gallon bucket.

You don't need a better fuel pump because a shot of 75 hp would be a wet nitrous kit. Meaning you are mixing gas and nitrous, therefore the car will get the proper fuel amount while you spray. If your car is stock 75 hp is the max. Also, if you opened your air intake with the needswing CAI in combination with the tune you are most likely already lean. That's why I got the injectors from TVT.
Please take at look at my nitrous article in my web site.

ps. forget the 44% it depends on the car.

I would think you NA guys could push more than 75 with a stock engine. Aren't the internals in the SRT6 and NA the same? Jeff was pushing a 150 shot plus the supercharger and a 181 pulley(which produces around 20 psi of boost), CAI, tune, 3" catback and his engine never blew.

Not quite.....

They are the same dimensions, but the materials are not the same. They use stronger materials for the rods, and I think the crankshaft. I'm not 100% positive what the actual differences are, I have a listing on my computer at home, unfortunately I'm on my laptop at work now.
