Default Wife ran the XF out of gas

So I searched to see if there were going to be any problems that would need attending to.
There was a comment about the possibility of the fuel filter picking up dirt from the bottom of the tank and needing to replace it.

What do y'all think? The dealer wants $300.00. What's the likelyhood that everythings just fine?

Drive it for awhile, see what happens. If the fuel filter IS bad you should be able to find out rather quick, I would think.
Regardless, $300 for a fuel filter change seems a little bit excessive!

Not good to run an electric fuel pump sucking up air. Your lucky it's not a diesel. You have to manually prime a diesel fuel system. Squirrel Crusher

nope, can burn a gasoline fuel pump up, the fuel keeps it cool....shouldn' t use the word burn when talking about fuel I quess...and yes, running your diesel out of fuel isn't good...better have a little fuel ready to put in the fuel filter before you try to start her...and I am sure you explained to your wife that wasn't exceptable, but she saw that price of 93 octane, and said the word you hear a lot I am sure, NO, not buying it...NO...
