Hey Everybody. Does anybody know how much more horsepower I would get if I just put in a catback Magnaflow exhuast? Thanks!

Possibly 2-5hp (from anothe rpost within the last week).
For the same price you could get a CAI and get a lot more HP, and it will give you the flexibility to do more mods in the future.

According to my highly scientific butt-dyno I gained an honest 1.382 HP and 0.994 lb-ft of torque.

Gas mileage has suffered, however, because it sounds bloody fantastic running up through the gears!

You could either gain a few or lose a few. A tune and other mods usually helps with the freer flowing exhaust. I just re-tuned mine after putting on my Magnaflow but I really can't tell the difference until the heat down here subsides a little bit.

I'm not sure if you would lose performance, you'd have to ask but according to the previous post, it is a possibility. I think the same muffler should work for both versions, but their website should give you a sub-model option when selecting your vehicle. Since it barely gives more power, I might just by a muffler and a new tip. I'm looking or a Lamborghini Murcielago exhaust tip, the long rectangle-like shaped ones but I havent been able to find one. But $400-$500 on an exhuast that barely makes a difference is not worth it.

Shouldn't hurt performance that much, if it does at all. But don't take my whole word for it. Ask around this forum just to make sure.

There are 2 Magnaflow mufflers, 1 for the SRT which is a 3" inlet and the N/A one has a smaller sized inlet, it's either a 2.5 or 2.75.

So why does Magnaflow advertise performance increase on their site with Dyno's to prove it?

Grant it, I just installed mine because it sounds sweet, but would be interested to know why it's sold as a performance product. Could it be that it does add HP and torque when other mods have been made, and the extra flow allows the other mods to be more effective?

I seem to feel a better pull at the 3000+ RPMs since I installed the MF. But it also coincides with my 74mm TB.

Any thoughts?

You'll gain a little top end with a freer flowing exhaust, i.e. the magnaflow cat-back, but the lack of backpressure will slightly hurt torque.

BTW.......you sneaky buzzard FP.......were you going to tell me or just wait till I found out next year at the WDC?

LOL, funny you were the one who encouraged me to get the one I sent you for your thoughts via email.

You're not having a senior moment, are you

BTW, I haven't noticed any torque loss.
