As has already been noted, K&N flow well when CLEAN, but if you care about dust infiltration, use OEM quality filters and change them regularly.

I've been using K&N for a very long time. Whatever dust that gets through it, burns up during the combustion. So I get freer flowing and more HP. Never had any engines go wrong. Believe me when I say this, no dust is going to survive the extreme heat inside those cylinders. I'm a performance enthusiast all the way and put all my years of experience into trusting K&N all the way. I clean my filters every 10K miles because it is very easy to do.
the way I see it, is a general motors deisel, and a gm owner muraculously finding a gm filter was the best for his gm product....wonder who funded that study? I will stay with my cheap underrated filters from K&N.....btw, buy a gm filter and lay it next to a K&N and tell me the difference....I still had some gm filters left over from the camaro/vette days, and they just about fit the cross....but I have since, switched to needswings intake now...with K&N's...I use K&N on the Harley....with no problems as well...I won't knock gm products, I used them for years, but I don't see them being any different than the K&N regardless of these numbers.....I use fram filters in my semi.....not GM...
