Installing oil pressure gauge...
I have been VERY slowly working on installing an oil pressure gauge in my Aero. I installed the triple pillar pod with AFR, boost and oil pressure gauges last year. (I did say slowly) The Miller tool set has an Oil Pressure measuring adapter in it so I got it out and looked at how it installed and if my oil pressure sensor would fit and clear everything. It turned out that it fit very well and with good clearence.
I started turning down a piece of stainless steel to duplicate the Miller adapter, only as a solid piece. Then I thought, what if the belt breaks and gets caught on the adapter...SS threaded into AL....SS will likely win and pull out of the stainless. I'm seeing BIG $$$ with that picture. So I grabbed some Aluminum and turned it down, threaded one end to 12x1.5mm, tapped the other end for 1/8-27npt and cut a 22mm hex on that end for a socket/wrench. I have to run out and get a new 90* 1/8-27 npt fitting to finish the install and then hook it up.
Here is what it looks like in place. (you can see that the adapter didnt have the hex on the end when I did the fit test) I will let you know how the gauge works when I finish the hook up.

Taking orders, Mike?
(The book says 5 psi minimum at idle and something like 35 to 80 at 3,000 rpm. I, too, am interested in what he gets.)

All done.. here are the pics of the sending unit installed and the working gauge. You can see that it is reading 70psi... that was right after start up... once it kicked back down to 700rpm the pressure dropped to 40psi. I didnt take it out on the road yet. But it looks like it is working good.

For inquiring minds I went out and warmed up the Aero real good and rev'ed it up to 2500rpm - 300rpm and held it and the oil pressure ran at 25psi to 30psi. Warmed up at idle it sits about 20psi. Everything looks solid and tight...
I miss my old neighbor. He transfered to Jacksonville awhile back. He did vibratory feeder bowls. I could use the vertical mill and his lathe whenever I needed it, and he was a heck of welder....tools do help when it comes to fabricating...
Max,
I had a couple of spare crush washers for the Miller tool. They are .050" thick copper, .700" OD, .500" ID. A 12mm ID would be better.

Now I've got to find a 12mmX1.5 banjo fitting.

Thanks. I'll keep an eye on it. Maybe see how much shorter I can make it too.
Nice part you made there. makes your installation very neat. No need for an extension.
I used AutoMeter p/n: 2277 Electric Temperature or Pressure M12x1.5 male to 1/8" NPT female. About 12 dollars. You can order it at most Advance or NAPA stores.
14mm x 1.5mm to 1/4 NPT banjo. Good for transmission cooler mods.

Let me see if I can find 12mm.

Take care,

I got a few banjo bolts to play with and see if I can find a better place to put the sending unit away from the middle of the belts.....
