I am in the market and on the look-out of for a Mercedes C320 airbox to install on my 2004 Limited. I haven't had any luck on Ebay and obviously don't want to pay the absurd price from a dealer. My price (cost + shipping) was $90 which depended on the condition. One I bought was missing 2 of the cover clips but they were interchangeable with the Xfire cover. It also included the front part. Came off a C240 and was in perfect shape.

 

Which covers will fit a Crossfire?

 

Parts to do this modification are;
Mercedes engine cover #A 112 090 1101
The front part of this two piece cover is part #A112 010 0467
Intake tubes, left #A112 094 35 82, right #A112 094 34 82. These require the OEM adapters to be removed from the radiator support and to be modified so they fit through the radiator support hole which is too small.
Filters, K&N's #33-2181
74 mm Throttle Body, Mercedes #A113 141 0125
Throttle body O-ring #05102933AA, Mercedes #3059970345. Or a Viton O-ring #151, 3/32" x 3 3/16" outside diameter
The larger (3") MAF, Mercedes #A 113 094 0048. Using the original OEM MAF sensor.
Donut seal for engine cover to MAF unit, Mercedes #1120940180 (If original is damaged)

Ask them the part number. some parts fit but rub on the hood liner, part#112 090 15 01 is such a part.
What you need to do the complete intake mod, including the 75mm MAF are as follows;
Mercedes engine cover #A 112 090 11 01
The front part of this two piece cover is part #A112 010 04 67
Intake tubes, left #A112 094 35 82, right #A112 094 34 82 (if you go this route, these need to be modified to fit throughthe rad support after removing the fittings that fit the OEM intake tubes)

Insist on the correct part number, twice I have had a part substituted for what they 'thought' would fit ... it did not and was returned.

 

Both of my c320 airboxes are numbered A 112 094 00 04. The engine cover is seperate

112 090 15 01, I believe is an SLK airbox number that uses the same size filters as the Crossfire does now. The front engine cover portion is included, the entire assy is one piece. When I had this airbox on my car, I don't recall it rubbing.

No you do not need to upgrade the TB, it is up to you. Using the c320 airbox, you will definitely help with the air flow.

Autozone does carry the 3" flexible tubes to fit the airbox.

 

Isn't A112 094 00 04 an air filter?
The SLK engine cover is A112 090 05 01 and is indeed a one part cover. It uses the same filters as the Crossfire, no benefits to be had with it.
A112 090 15 01 fits but is about 1/2" too high. I know as I ended up with two of them. I had three but I sent it back after ordering the 11 01 and them kindly swapping the 15 01 as they had sent the one I ordered to someone else.
The 15 01 fits 6 and 8 cylinder cars a different nose piece adds the extra length for the 8 cylinder configuration. I know, someone sent me it instead of the 6 cylinder nose piece and told me to keep it and then sent the correct part.
I now have two 15 01's and a 8 cylinder nose piece. I guess I'll put them on ebay for a song and hope to get rid of them.
I'm still waiting for my 11 01 cover.

 

Ok Dave, My bad, the 0004 number is a filter number that is listed on the cover. Sorry.

My cover on my car is 112 090 1101. My spare cover is 112 090 0601. Now I need to see what the difference is.

No, exactly the same ones. If you look at the SLK airbox in the pic above, I used my OEM Crossfire tubes.

 

This thread has got mixed up, I am referring to the C320 engine cover. The SLK320 cover is no improvement over the Crossfire OEM cover.
The 320 engine cover that we want is A112 090 11 01, and it has larger intake tubes which are 3" diameter. The SLK320 cover will fit to the Crossfire OEM intake tubes and as I said are no benefit.
Quite a large number of covers fit but we want one with minimal height the 112 090 15 01 is too high and the 112 090 11 01 is fine.
I listed all the components that maximize the air flow to the engine. With the 112 090 11 01 engine cover the OEM intake tubes can be inserted inside the engine cover inlet and fit well. The intake on the cover is too large for them to fit around the outside, that needs the 3" diameter.
If you study the 15 01 cover and the 11 01 cover you can see that the height directly above the intake tubes is about 3/8" to 1/2" lower on the 11 01 cover compared to the 15 01 cover. That difference is critical so it does not rub against the hood.
Forget the SLK320 cover it has confused this discussion, and I'm confused enough.

SLK320 = cosmetic upgrade only.

C320 = cosmetic AND a slight horsepower gain.

Needswings is still the best route to go for max HP, as it replaces more components at once and makes a much smoother/straighter shot from the inlet to the intake manifold. The C320 box is just shy of a NW single... but I chose it for aesthetics because I'm not fond of the big gaping hole on the side of the O-Shaped ML320 cover that is often used with the NW single. Green Ghost did a superb job of filling in the said gap... but it's not an every-man mod. If I ever get around to finding and modifying the ML320 engine cover to my tastes, I'll be upgrading to NW.

The MAF and throttle body alone will almost cost as much as a NW single, and still won't flow as well. BUT, we're talking an N/A Crossfire, and I can't see the difference being much more than 2-5 RWHP between my current setup and the NW single.

It's all in what your end goal is...

 

Dave, in a previous post, before edited, you did have 112 090 15 01 listed and that is why I jumped in to say it was for the SLK, not the C.

But now I have to figure out what the difference is between the 1101 and 0601. Any ideas?
