Default Engine disengages after spirited acceleration.

Occasionally, after acceleration my car almost seems to go into neutral for about 5 seconds. It has done it about 5 times in the past month and I'm worried next time it isn't going to re engage and i'll be left on the side of the road. Anyone know what it might be??

I saw the thread about the torque converter problems. Hopefully this isn't it.

Almost sounds like Traction Control kicking in.

its not actually while accelerating, its after i let off that it lets go. I hit the gas and but it just revs and eventually it engages. No warning lights so far.

Could it be the dreaded transmission leak?

Yes, that's exactly what happened to mine, had the connector replaced, and fluid level corrected ...........no problems since.........
