Default Exhaust Setup Idea, Any Experts Out There?

I'd like the help of everyone here in the forum to figure out the best custom exhaust setup that I can create. I'm going to throw out the idea that I've been playing around with and if anyone has any constructive criticism or other ideas, feel free to chime in.

So my plan is to completely replace the exhaust system back of the front cats. My goal is to create a true dual exhaust system that will improve upon the stock muffler sound, be more free-flowing, but keep drone to a minimum.

My idea will go as follows:

- Delete Secondary Cats
- Replace with Magnaflow X-Pipe Crossover
- Dual 2 1/4" Pipe Back to DynoMax Ultra-Flo X Muffler

It will look like this:

I chose the DynoMax muffler because it is dual in/dual out and has a built in X-crossover inside the muffler. My thinking is that this muffler in addition to the earlier crossover x-pipe where the secondary cats used to be will help reduce the drone commonly associated with deleting our secondary cats.

So, all you exhaust experts out there, what do you think?

I hope this works out for you. I am by far, not an expert here, but I am not sure if an X muffler will help much since it is at the end of the system. It is an interesting designed muffler.

That better be a good muffler if you dont want any drone...

What I did to my car was

- keep the origional front cats
- then just after those I increased the size of the pipes to 2½"
- deleted the rear cars and installed the magnaflow X where they use to be
- ran 2 pipes to the back
- finishing it off with 2 magnaflow mufflers
- enlarged the holes of the stock tips to 2½" and finished it off

There is drone in my car. I have a pretty good stereo set up and I can still hear the exhaust at any rpm/speed (well not if the car is just idleing with the stereo cranked)

Over all I think it sounds pretty good. Many members have listend my car and I have not recieved any negitive feedback.

I have not heard it since the V8 is in there but I was told it sounds awsome!

Thats all I can say about this style setup

@James - I wasn't quite sure if would really make much of a difference, either, but I figured it would help a little more than just 2 straight mufflers side by side.

@Beaner - Does changing the piping size affect the sound at all, or did you do it purely for better flow? I still have the exhaust clips you sent me, thanks for those. That is what made me really consider doing this type of setup.

I suppose that if I end up doing this setup and don't like qualities of the muffler I can always just switch the muffler out with a different one.

Looks like a good set up. And Beaner, my Ansa muffler sounded even much better with a V8!
