Default tensioner #9 chattering

I have had a chattering from one of my pulleys for a few days and was finally able to track which one. The tensioner next to the crank is moving/wobbling a bit and seems to be chattering more and more each day. Anyone changed this one out yet? I know of #6 and #4 but is #9 the same pulley size? I will contact Rob @ Needswings but maybe he or someone else will see this and chime in. Thanks

I thought #4 was the tensioner and #9 was the guide with #6 being the idler. Whatever they are called it is the pulley in #9 position that is making the loud chattering noise and seems to be vibrating/wobbling. I will take tear the serpentine down this weekend and see if things need to be tightened but I would like to replace as many of the pulleys as I can. They all seem to prone to malfunction. Anyone with any info would be appreciated.

pulley 9 is the tensioner pulley, its actually the tensioner behind #9 that fluctuates and does the tensioning. use the torx socket and releive the tension on the belt and pull the belt off the tensioner, then spin the pulley by hand, that will let uou knwo if its the pulley or the actual tensioning assemblly that has gone bad.

your right Rob, now that I look at it and think back to the many times I had to change a pulley or move one. I will put the order for the PSK through and hopfully it is just the pulley. cheers

I took the belt off and the pulley is wobbly. the tension seems fine so I am assuming that just the pulley needs replaced. The bolts seem tight enough so the bearing must be completely worn/wallowed out. We will see.

I got the pulley saver kit and catch can from Rob today... Yeah, weekend project. I had someone today stop me at a red light to tell me I had a tensioner or idler pulley making some noise, lol. Like I hadn't heard the LOUD *** chattering before then. Thanks man, i got the pulleys in the back for immediate replacement. CHEERS

What is the advantage of the Needswing pulley opposed to parts.com?
