Just picked up my Xfire recently and have yet to pop off the engine cover (n/a, not an SRT).
It looks like there are four (4) screws in the back, but nothing else on the sides or front.
Will be pulling off this weekend to check around, are there any other clips or screws I need to be aware of...
Thanx...

After you pull the cover off, flip it over. You will see some screws on either side. Under the two covers where the screws are you will find the air filters. You can buy K&N replacements if they are not already replaced. The K&Ns last forever with just cleaning and re oiling. Good luck. Oh, when you put it back on, slide the air tubes into the radiator support first, push it far enough forward that the oil filter housing hole is lined up and push the cover down at the rear, line up the air intake with the air box hole. Push down on the cover at rear and front, you will feel it fit in.

Can the K&N's be purchased locally thru an Autozone or Pep Boys...?
Or is it quicker/smarter to get them online...

You would have to get larger intake tubes to do it right but the stock tubes do fit tightly inside the larger box.
Larger box, larger throttle body, maybe the larger MAF housing, larger intake tubes and the larger filters, costs money but what the heck gotta keep the economy going.
The hole you mean is the oil filler hole not the filter hole, there is no filter hole.
I always put the cover on first and then add the tubes as they concertina and you can fit them to the cover.
Locate the cover on the air pump spigot at the front, rotate down at the rear and push down.
If you have the two piece cover, leave the nose off and locate it to the four snaps.
Lithium grease on the five snaps makes it easier.

You can probably get them at any good auto parts store, EBAY, and several other places have them too. just besure you order or pick up the correct filter. They can determine that by which filter it has in it now or by the car ( Limited, SRT6, Base, etc. N/A( Normally Aspirated), supercharged, etc. You will get more horsepower from the K&Ns and they last forever.

I replaced my stock filters with K&N's. With no other performance upgrades though... any gains are seemingly only in my head.

We are going to try an document the horsepower change in the next couple of weeks. Jerry at Eurocharged is going to dyno mine with Stock filter and then dyno with K&Ns.

The only thing my car had done was a dyno tune done at Eurocharged in Houston. It was doing 195RWHP, I have since then added the K&N filters and a 74mm TB. I think it is about 205-210 RWHP now. I'm looking forward to DYNO testing it again. Waiting to find out when we can get it tested in the next few weeks. After the first dyno tune I could tell a big difference, that is why I was excited about the K&N filters and the 74mmTB. The K&Ns and the new TB made a big change too, can't wait to see the HP numbers. Will post info when I get it.

Do you know how much RWHP you were running before the tune?
Thanks,
Eric
Don't have a dyno run printed ,but if I remember correctly it was 174RWHP before the tune, but it had a flash tune before that by Eurocharged. A regular bone stock is probably 160RWHP. All speculation though.

Your speculation is better than mine.. hehe.
I ask because I'm thinking about getting a tune from Eurocharged for my N/A
Thanks again,
Eric
Eurocharged can do the flash tune via internet, you just have to have a laptop computer and a special cable that connects to the OBD2 port under the steering wheel. Can do it in just a few minutes. You can contact Eurocharged by internet. E-mail jerry@eurocharged.com Tell Jerry I told you to call you may be able to talk him into a special deal. They do good work. They may have someone in your area where you are that they can work with to get it done.

I'll go send him an e-mail right now!
