Default A better crank position sensor CPS

My CPS died last night. I went to O'Rieley's last night and picked up a new one. The one they sell is made by borg Warner and has a lifetime guarantee for $54. The electrode on the end is different than the factory one. Since we know the factory ones will fail, I was glad to see this one is different and with the guarantee, I won't ever have to pay for another. I had recently also put one of these in the E500 I recently bought.

Mind if I re-post this info elsewhere?

You posted this just in time for me, my car threw the CPS code Saturday. I'll see if I can find the Borg Warner sensor locally.

Les

I found one locally at Advance Auto Parts for $58.29. On ebay and other online stores it was at $102.00 and more.

Yes, It works perfectly. If you compare the original Bosch one to the Borg Warner one the tip of the electrode is a little different. We all know the originals tend to fail so I was very open to trying this one. I also like the lifetime guarantee that O'Riley's gave me. If it is no better at least I won't have to pay for another one ever.

I replaced my CPS with a Borg Warner a few weeks ago (purchased at Advanced Auto) It failed after two or three weeks. I replaced that one this weekend with a Bosch.

I haven't had a chance to attempt to return the Borg Warner to Advanced Auto.

Wow, I hope you just got a one off bad one. I have about a month on the one I put in out MB and less than a week on the one I just put in the Crossfire. I do like the lifetime guarantee though.

I did compare the original Bosch that first failed with the Borg Warner, and the Borg Warner is slightly longer than the OEM part. I will show that to Advanced Auto when I return the part to them.
