Eurocharged tuning seem to be the way to go. I guess they'll help you out. Tell them your story they might even do it for free. I am thinking of buying Eurocharged.com tuning myself. Just waiting to gather some cash for

DCAI Needswings
S/C pulley from Eurocharged
Tune from Eurocharged
Eurotuner 2.0 (with 2 sets of tune)

USD $2000 needed.

I was going thru your list of mods ghost. A tune will always help with performance as you are maximizing all the parameters of the motor within reason. CAI will help as well. Keeping the TB clean, regularly checking for vacuum leaks, sometimes something simple as plug wires and plugs can make a difference even though many think the plugs are fine forever. Staying on top of the game so speak, keeps things running perfectly....

yes sir, just watch for someone upgrading, and get a good deal on a cold air intake...and truthfully, I would do that before I would do a tune. Once you have your CAI, then get your tune next.

I would do a CAI first as well, and if money is tight, there are other options out there. I have a beautiful *true dual CAI* on my car and I did not pay anywhere near the $800 or so they usually cost. You will get a good gain from the intake, and even better with a tune.

I believe the canned tune is somewhere around 20HP, but this depends on the car, some of the XFs are just stronger than others. You will notice a difference in the seat of the pants with both mods, for sure, but you are still not going to win any Indy 500 races

Edit: usually mileage increases a bit, but the net effect is worse since you will want to push the pedal down more and more LOL

OMG I'm actually going to disagree with Boiler. I generally don't need to comment after John since he usually says what I'm thinking.

Do the Tune first with Eurocharged. It's the cheapest upgrade, and it comes with free lifetime retunes. So you get a boost in HP immediately with the tune and then later on when you have the funds for a Needswings Dual (highly recommended) you can retune for free.

I won't lie, with out forced induction I don't know how much power is available in the NA motor. I never altered my limited when I had it.

For the NA and getting the most HP/$ the NW dual is a bit overkill. The increased flow from the second tube does not justify the cost IMO as the NA isn't as hungry for air as the supercharger. A single NW flows the best out of the other available options if you want the most performance . Good compromise would be other Mercedes OEM stuff (c320 intake) Hotter and not as much power as the NW but improvement over stock. Short list of reasonable priced mods for the NA would be Tune, Throttle Body, intake, injectors. After that you start spending more $ per HP. As to where to start it doesn't really matter that much. If you go tune first you will want to get it redone after adding additional components to maximize your gains.

loungn14 is your best bet. That is Jake, one of the owners of Eurocharged. However, PMing him will most likely not work as his PMs are almost always full, and he is on a dozen different forums so he doesn't go through each PM.

Other than that, I would e-mail sales@eurocharged.com or call the shop and ask for Jerry or Clint. They will be able to give you pricing. Just make sure to tell them whether you will be doing it in house, on the dyno, or via remote.

Hope that helps.

LOL, well like everything, it is all opinion. Both of my NAs have run pretty well, granted they are no SLK55 but AutoXing this weekend, I was hanging with and beating cars with cars with A LOT more power than I (and getting WHOOPED by some with lots less than me LOL damn power to weight ratio and all that)

Are you aware what kind of gains can be had from the throttle body? I see guys changing these all the time, but in several years of modding these, I have never seen anyone post actual gains, so I am weary....

I wouldnt expect much of a gain in HP from the TB alone its more of an efficiency thing I suppose. Being that much larger it will flow better and ensure your sucking as much air in as possible. I would think there should be an improvement in throttle respose as well, something that is usually in the complaint column on the crossfire. Paired with a better intake is most likely where you would get the most out of it. I am getting ready to do it, I wish I had some way of measuring the difference myself (flow numbers would prob be more significant than HP) But I don't think dyno time for a ~100$ part is in the future for me. Maybe at a group meet or something, I'd really like to see the real numbers as well.

Tune is always the last, read it again children, the last thing you do. Why would you do a tune with NO mods? I know Eurocharged will reflash it for free, but why do that. Do your mods, once you are done modding, bring it all together with a tune. Everytime you add something, like a cold air intake, you now have changed the parameters of the car. The tune is done on what is on the car now. Do as you like, but I don't want to touch that ECU anymore times than necessary.

I shook so badly, the soda I bought at McD's (free wifi service for the remote tune) was flat by the time I was half through it. OH MY, I sure am happy its done! Oh, BTW, Clint indicated a reflash was not neccessary with just a CAI mod down the road. He indicated the flash included the neccessary stuff for this in this original flash. Anyway, again, A HUGE THANK YOU for the folks at eurocharged for giving my girl a nice kick in da butt!

EUROCHARGED ROCKS!
It was our pleasure!

George it was/is people like you who made it all possible for us to even have Eurocharged.

Without that, we wouldn't enjoy the freedoms that we have today.

God bless, and hope we were somehow able to brighten your day!

Dang, another success story. My little NA runs like a clock. Love my tune by Eurocharged.
I'll be able to drive again at the end of August (Sept 1st), can't wait. I have driven my wife crazy when she drives me around, She'll be happy too!!!!!

the reason you do a tune first is because of the free retunes. ie: you buy a 181 pulley and dont have enough cash for a tune. the car is in danger of lean conditions unless you park the car until you have the cash for the tune . if you get the tune first theres about a 15 to 20 hp inc and any mod added later is free retune so its only a fone call and the car is safe.
