Then the valve cover is coming off to replace the lifters and possibly the valve guides/seals. Something is going on in that cylinder. Not sure what yet. Going to start working on in this friday. Also the car has developed a tick it sounds like right above that cylinder. This is why i may replace the lifters. I cant belive with 17,000 miles i am dealing with these issues.
My guess is a broken oil ring on the piston. How long have you had the car. Maybe that's why someone sold it.
There maybe a leak of oil across the cylinder head gasket if oil passes through the gasket. I've never seen a head off though.

Did you ever check or change the plug wires to that cylinder like others have suggested? No DTC's?

Sounds like it may be time also for a Euorcharged tune to lean it out some. The cars come from the factory rich. Just a thought....Good luck!

I hate it when people start a thread and never report back on what happened or what they ended up doing to fix a problem.

I would have swapped the coil pack to the front and put 2 new plugs in the back.
( Front is easier to get to the plugs ), then run a couple of thousand miles and checked both front and back plugs.
If fouling still occurring, it is NOT electrical ( unless for some strange reason the PCM has a burned out transistor for that coil pack ).

Compression test time .....

180's probably right - broken ring.

Guys i have done everything except yank the head off. I have just been dumping new plugs in as need be on that cylinder. Haven't found a fix yet to make a post with. As soon as this winter comes around I will be pulling the head. Every thing is adding up to be a bad valve guide or seal. When I pull the head it will tell the story.

I have been going through the same thing with my 05. 3rd owner bought with 18k.
Drove my crazy...finally figured out #6 cylinder would foul over both plugs. I've swapped coils, injectors, put on new wires...For now I'll feed the habit. This winter I will also pull the valve cover and see what things look lie. I expect valve seals.
With new plugs the car rips up the road no misfires, etc..
Keep all posted last this winter.
