I recently purchased an 05 roadster and now realize the clutch is slipping. It is only noticeable in 5th or 6th gear but I'd like to get it replaced before it gets any worse. Can anyone recommend a shop in the greater Phoenix area (preferably east side) that I could trust to do a good job at a fair price?

 

dynocomp can handle the repair for you with zero issues. high end mercedes import independent shop with great mechanics

 

Thanks 32krazy. Is this dynocomp as in Dyno-comp.com. That's the only dynocomp I could find on Google and it looked more like a performance tune shop that a repair garage.

 

same same. a custom shop that understands your car is more mercedes than chrysler is better then a shop that doesnt know anything about it. their rates arent any more than a dealership but their knowledge is vastly superior

I am one unhappy guy. I bought a used 05 roadster and have been driving it for a whopping 8 days now. The clutch is slipping so today I went to see what the dealer might be willing to do to help out. As you can probably imagine they aren't exactly jumping up and down and offering to make it right. They have the "as is" mantra down pat. And equally shocking (sarcasm) is that the 24,000 mile service contract they tacked on doesn't cover the clutch.

So, figuring I'm SOL, I started checking into the repair shops. Based on some figures I saw on the forum here I was figuring somewhere around $1100 to $1500. First I called an independent shop where I've had work done on a previous car. They do quite a bit of work on foreign cars and seem to have a good reputation. They quoted me $2100. I also called a high performance tuning and accessory shop and they told me that worst case it was going to run me $3600 to $3700. He based this on not knowing if the xfire had a dual mass flywheel or not and so assumed it did and that the flywheel couldn't be turned. He said if it had a single mass flywheel I could probably knock about $900 off that total. He then went on to say that this was based on Chrysler parts and that he felt he could probably save me another $800 by using Mercedes parts. He was still doing research to find out what the cross reference part numbers were and said he'd call me back tomorrow. So, assuming the flywheel is single mass and he can find Mercedes parts, then he is also in the $2100 range.

Can anyone confirm whether or not this n/a roadster is single or dual-mass flywheel?
Where can I find a list of the appropriate Mercedes part numbers?
Is there some place else in the Phoenix, Chandler, Tempe, Gilbert, Scottsdale area I should be calling?

I'm really sick about this (permagrin not so permanent), very much regretting the purchase, and would appreciate any assistance.
