Garmin EcoRoute to replace Ultragauge?
Garmin EcoRoute to replace Ultragauge?
I came across this device while reading up on my new Nuvi. Just a little bit more expensive than the Ultragauge but nicer colors and screen. And no additional cords running to the unit.
Auction prices are $99 free shipping but will look around a bit more. What do you think?

The $99 only gets you the unit you plug in under the dash, you have to have the Garmin Nuvi 1490 unit or better.
That is the unit I have so this could be another toy I 'need'.

or
smartphone: Simply download the Garmin Mechanic app from the Android Market™ and follow the on-screen prompts
The Ultra gauge is a bit small and that wire is a pain in the ar$e.

I was looking at their safety instructions on this, evidently you have to make sure your dongle isn't dangling, or it could get painful.

I do like the way the gauges are displayed though. Dilemma, dilemma...

My EcoRoute HD Device came today. Installs in less than 5 minutes. First time I powered up my GPS it received the bluetooth signal and connected once I answered a few questions.
A few times around the block and it is cool toy. I like the idea of the voltage, engine temperature, and IAT readings.

Looks cool though. Still on the fence.

I have one, but rarely use it .... it is no dashdaq and has less info than the ultragauge (I have all 3) it does not have any fuel trim info .... but is a convenient boost gauge or battery monitor and it does give you IAT which is fun to compare to ect and ambient temp (for tracking heat exchanger effectiveness)
the gauges look cool, but the digital info is all you use

Dave, No troubles at all with the EcoRoute. I like the idea of the eng temp, voltage, and IAT at my fingertips to monitor them. It is short one feature and it would have been a perfect buy - I miss the MPG the Ultragauge has on the screen.
No remorse. James
