Question Mopar Cat Back

I found this on another forum and wanted to know if anyone had seen it before. Mopar is asking $576.40 for it online plus shipping. Its at http://www.mopersupercenter.com its said to give 8-15 hp on the other forum (who knows if thats right). This is whats said on the site: Mopar Performance Cat-Back Exhaust Systems, including the muffler, feature T304 stainless steel construction (aircraft quality) with mandrel-bent tubing, stainless band (torca) clamps and polished tips.
These free-flow systems provide a horsepower and torque gain, improved fuel economy and a deeper tone.

I thought the MOPAR catback was the same as the Borla that was just released? That looks nothing like the Borla. In fact, I like this one better.

I think they are the same. The first picture is not the cat-back for the Crossfire. It is a generic picture from the website.

That explains it. Looking at the picture more closely now, there is no way that system would work on our cars.

this is the picture of the crossfire at the sema show displaying the new chrysler accessory exhaust as the reps stated.

this looks to be the same as the one above on the crossfire pictured via ZLMan440

The photo looks like two seperate systems... The only Mopar aftermarket exhaust I am aware of is the one designed and built by Borla. Product #140083. Although there may be another company that has built one... Keep us informed !!! Especially if it is dual exhaust from the manifold...

I may be wrong on this but this looks like a two piece exhaust system with full duals from the muffler back. My guess is the the replacement muffler fits onto factory twin pipes about mid-section of car and from there the two other pipes with "tips" run to back of car.
if the muffler pipes are "straight through" with some muffling material surrounding, you have a full dual system that would probably work quite well. What I can't figure out from the pic is whether the tail pipes are routed parallel to each other on drivers side of differential or spread out enough to be routed either side of diff. Running pipe on passenger side of differential is a little iffy because of the gas tank/fuel pump, etc.

To reiterate my earlier post, the picture is not the Crossfire cat-back. If you go to the website you will see:

Notes: THE IMAGE SHOWN HERE IS A GENERAL PICTURE OF A CATBACK SYSTEM AND NOT THE ITEM BEING PURCHASED.

Wink Re: Mopar Cat Back

That system looks like it might be for something like a Prowler. Note that the muffler has dual inlets (we have a single inlet) and the length of the tailpipes dictates the placement of the muffler much, much farther forward than our setup with the muffler at the rear. Our tips are on the end of the muffler (no tailpipes)!!!!!

My previous post wasn't intended to confirm that this system was definitely Xfire but a similar design could be available for the Xfire. There is no reason why this design would not work. You cut the factory journal off (where two pipes join together just behind converters and they slip into dual pipes in muffler. From there back you have complete dual exhaust with stainless tips. The only question I see is the weight of the muffler at the mid-section of car and designing a hangar support at that point.
Otherwise, this exhaust design is definitely feasible.

Question Re: Mopar Cat Back

If you look underneath the center section of the car, the tunnel, that the driveshaft shares with the present single exhaust pipe would not handle any kind of muffler. The entire thickness of the muffler would be substracted from your ground clearance.
But, of course by now, we know what it looks like.
Has ANYONE been able to purchase the MOPAR version yet???
Lots of discussion for a long time and now.........................POOF!!!!!!!!!!

Probably because those of us who were intereted in aftermarket exhaust systems already had them installed and there's nothing more to discuss...

I'm interested, but I'll never, ever pay $600+ for a cat-back.
