Default Replacing Woodruff key after crank pully came loose

Greetings all.
I have an issue with my 05 SRT where my crank pulley/damper came loose and ate part of the woodruff key. I have a new pulley, new bolt already here and a new woodruff key is on the way but I am at a loss as to how the old key will come out. Has anyone removed theirs before and be willing to let me in on the trick as to how it is done? It is possible I may be over thinking this but it doesn't look like it could just slide out.

I was able to slide the new pulley onto the crank and it does eventually line up with the remaining key but when I pulled the old pulley out it looked as though a large chunk of the key had been sheared off.

Thanks

You may want to check MBWorld. I believe there were a couple of people with E55's that went through this.

This is the shape of them, so tapping on one end should rotate it out. I say should ........
Do not damage the side of the slot and pinch it in there.

I have done this before and just get a flat blade or similar that fits the groove and tap until it starts to move .....make sure it does not get into the oil pan so don't just hit it hard.......depending on the damage it might take a little effort to get out but it will come out. The key is half moon shape so be aware of what the other side looks like when you remove it.
