R170 SLK Supercharge Inv. Parts
UNfortunately the price for the supercharger and all the parts are just under 10,000 there is no need for a different harness nor ecu. the ecu can be reprogrammed for the added boost. There also doesnt need lower compression as the motor is supercharger friendly
Just to let ya know.. with certain tracking sites you can get all the SC parts for under 2 - 3k... thats SC, IC, BOV, WG, those goodies... tubing and install is what im scared of for the price
best to find someone that you know... which I got! I completely forgot about a family friend that does purely SC'ing to cars... I should get a decent deal... and will probably be able to do the job with him! so I can step by step pictures and install help for everyone else after im done! .... im thinking for the ECU since its not "program" friendly if you dont do it correct
I had a dead Xfire for a month cuz of it... I'll SAFM system... just a stand alone fuel management system.. that will resolve that ECU if-y problem
... will cost a bit more then needed but programming will be easy and fun! haha... ill let ya know more after the a few more weeks!

I have a supercharger for mine, but I myself wasn't sure what I needed parts wise. I read something a while back, that said with the SLK's you did need an Intercooler, or aftercooler. I'm real lazy I didn't look at all that has been talked about with this thread, But have we come up with a complete parts list?
Not sure if you need an intercooler, but the SRT6 has a water to air intercooler... One would assume the MB engineers know WTF they are doing...
If you want to find out the mfg of both the OEM SC & IC do a search on the posts I did a few months ago.... Search keyword IHI.

AMG did a SC - IC - and all other parts related to SC or TC a car... its pretty basic ... ive been surprised learning about it... if you dont have to worry about compression then its almost basic to hook up the tubing and all the part if you know / have what you need to put on.... the programming is the funky part
it would be sick if we could figure out how to get this done for less than 4k so we could hang with all the other modded cars out there. i like that package that onfire was talking about, all motor 290hp. but supercharging would be cool too. i just need to be able to line up next to an sti and feel like i have a chance, that would be so nice. crossfire with 300hp is a top ten car on the market if thats the way it came.
would be exactly the same thing as the SRT-6 engine wise... cuz the engine has the chance to go that high... so 330hp is possible... might as well do the same AMG system type... know what I mean
....
SRT-6 says 5.1 0-60... but ive heard 5.0 .... so that would be a nice car... not as strong as Evo or the STi..... but its close know what I mean? ... plus its a two door....

For what it is worth, I have a supercharged Corvette and am hitting 12 pounds of boost with water methanol injection, I'm usiing a stock short block with 10.5 :1 compression ratio ( I agree with the previous post about not having to drop the compression ratio) It's a trade off to a certain extent of drop compression increase boost or keep the compression and run less boost. High compression 8 or higher boost, plan on some sort of intercooling.
I would love to see a supercharger kit for around 4K, but I don't see that as a reality...even a kit for the Vette was $5600 and those are only basic things, not counting the software to reprogram you ECM and all the other fuel related bits and pieces, I'm realistically about 8K.
For those who care...
A rough estimate of the horsepower you can make:
Boost + 14.7 / 14.7 + pressure ratio
Pressure ratio * HP + Estimated horse power
12 +14.7 /14.7 = 1.816
300 * 1.816 = 544.89 (I'm seeing ~522 HP 56 lb/min , 785 CFM)
The earlier post was asking about 7 pounds of boost with the Crossfire...
7 +14.7 /14.7= 1.47
215 * 1.47= 317. 38
I would also suggest an intercooler or minimum water injection system... it tremendously aids in getting rid of spark knock and for the most part allowing you to run close to stock timing, as was alsom mentions you can get a suplimental fuel system running with a 2 bar MAP ststem to handle additional fuel and I would think a means of externally controlling your advance like a MSD BTM .

bah! Really did it! ... gave my Crossfire to my mom... and I am trading in my jeep and getting a 35th anniversary 350z
... pumped for my new JDM!!!
another thing to remember the way a Benz engine is setup it makes lower hp numbers on supercharger such as the previous post about 317ish but torque numbers would be crazy somewhere around 450ish foot lbs..
Just in case someone doubts me look at the numbers for a cl65 608hp and something like 800ftlbs of torque

Tonight I decided to send out a few emails to locate a supercharger for the Crossfire or at least demonstrate that there is an interest out there for one. I sent emails to the following companies in hopes of finding one:
sales@superchargersonline.com, info@vortechsuperchargers.com, powerdyne@powerdyne.com, sales@whipplesuperchargers.com, info@paxtonauto.com, sales@magnusonproducts.com, info@kuhlsuperchargers.com, info@hksusa.com, info@camdensuperchargers.com, aj6eng@jagweb.com, info@stylinconcepts.com
I let you know what I find out. If I find one, do you guys (and gals) want to chip in to have it installed on my Crossfire? Sounds fair to me.

BTW, I've emailed well over two dozen companies, so if I get someone to make a blower with the same specs, I want him to pay $500 towards mine (since I've emailed twice as many people, I should get twice the gratuity, yes?)
