Default 2005 transmission problems

I have a 2005 crossfire that I had detailed. When i got it back it will not shift out of 1st gear and makes a hard slam when you put it in gear. You also can not put it back into park unless you shut off the car. Any help anybody can provide would be great.

Hi Bob, sorry about your problems. First thought, "I would be pi$$ed off an taking it back to them". If you drove off an home , they have " deniability ". Stuck in 1st leads me to think" limp mode", but the hard slam into gear is not a symptom. Unless you have a transmission or motor mount completely broken. Does the thump, shake the car, like something hit the underneath of it? Or is it a metal grinding noise? Do you have a OBDll code reader.?If not ,all most any parts store will have one an will gladly help. Those codes will also help us, to diagnose what's going on. Remove your battery cables for 20 mins , reconnect, give it a try. This is not a solution, but a starting point. Keep us posted an let us know what your doing , so we can help an follow along.

Maybe something was spilled in the shifter? Too much soap or cleaner used?

That that was my first thought also, if it is , not All Is Lost 😉 take the console apart around the shifter and inspect the shift controller and wiring harness for moisture if you see any dry it off the best you can with a rag and then take a hair dryer to it and dry it out. I think someone else had this issue and this was the solution. Maybe some of the other members have a little more input on this.
