Default Burning smell in 1st gear

So I replaced my clutch and fly wheel just about 8 months ago. Over the past couple weeks I’ve noticed a burning smell when I take off in 1st gear. Anyone else experience this with their crossfire?

Sorry I have to ask,

you sure its not the smell of burning rubber? Moving on to what your having issues with, any other information you can give the forum so the other experienced members can help you diagnose the problem?

Thanks,

DylanHunt

Ha! Nope, not peeling off in 1st The smell seems to be just in 1st gear, or maybe that's just when the car is still enough for me to smell it. Not sure if it's related to my clutch or a belt that needs to be replaced, or something else. I'm going to have to bring it to a garage to figure it out. Was just hoping I could get some feedback here first if anyone had a similar experience.

Hello,
can you tell us what the smell seems like? Does it smell like oil burning? Or burning rubber which can be a belt burning as they are rubber too. A clutch that is slipping has its own unique smell. So that is why I am asking what does it seem to smell like.

Thanks,

Turns out it was a cracked valve cover which smells like a burnt rubber/oil smell when the oil escapes.

Hope this thread helps someone else out whos having the same issue. If you’re handy replacing it yourself it’s not difficult. I got quoted $350 but am lucky enough to have a friend who will replace it for me for $175 including parts and labor.
