Post Tips and tricks to high mileage

Hello everyone!

My Crossfire 2004 it's about to reach 230,000 miles!

You have tips and tricks to have more care of my Crossfire?

Things like:
Every X miles you have to change the motor oil with 5W-10 syntethic

A related post could help too.

All the members was polite, kind and helped me a lot.

Thank you for this community!

5W-10 oil is too thin! Especially with a high milage engine.

Your 230,000 mileage engine has decaying gaskets, seals, and non metal parts. Thicker oils have additives such as conditioners, antioxidants, seal swells, detergents and friction additives.

......all older things need a boost of some sort.

Many of us use 5w-40 full synthetic oil, when changing the other fluids use only those recommended from the list in the owners manual. Do not substitute as the car is very particular about the correct fluids: anti freeze, steering, transmission etc. You can also search this forum for what others have used when changing fluids and filters. Change fluids and filters at recommended intervals.

You may want to consider purchasing an oil catch can, "Needswings" website has a can designed to fit the Crossfire and comes as a complete installation kit.

Keep the car clean inside and out; Use a good wax and polished, also use a good product to keep your window seals and door/hatch seals protected from UV rays. Best to park in the shade when possible.

Check the plastic trim pieces that surround the windshield are tight to the car. If they wiggle and feel loose remove them, and use new two sided tape to getting them stuck back to the clips which hold them in place.

Considering the climate where you are, I'd be using 5W40 or even 5W50 oils.
I would NEVER use ANYTHING other than Fleece filters (no paper filters).

Every 50,000 to 75,000 miles (100,000 KM) I replace:
Transmission fluid
Differential fluid
Coolant fluid
Brake fluid (it is called "bleeding of brakes")

Replace engine air filters every year (or more often if there is a LOT of dust in the air).

Replace spark plugs and spark plug wires every 100,000 miles (150,000 KM).

Keep battery posts and terminals clean, coat them with protective products.

Replace battery every 48 months/four years.

I had NO IDEA there even was 5W10.

I just learned something, I assumed he made a typo error - but no, 5W10 actually exists.
Maybe for good starting performance in Alaska....

Congratulations on holding 2 records! Both the highest mileage Crossfire (on this forum) plus the youngest Crossfire Owner (also on this forum)!
Maintenance schedule should be religiously maintainted, just like any other Crossfire. Plus as other members have stated, dont skimp on consumables, stick to the recommended brands and ratings for all fluids, your car will thank you in the long run !

Wrong on both counts. Youngest I remember was 17 and I also have seen some Crossfires over 300 K.

We may not have been here on day one but a bit longer than five months or so, I agree with you there were younger people and cars with higher mileage’s.
