It's difficult to provide advice with the limited information you've provided in your post to replace or rebuild the automatic transmission. Who provided you with the diagnosis of your transmission issues? What are the symptom failures that created this failure, mileage, lack of maintenance, abuse by previous owners? This failure is highly unusual in the Crossfire or MB SLK320 for that time period.
Please supply us with the extended details of this failure to respond accordingly.

Dennis

Hi DTMMenace, i diagnosed myself as when it changes gears, sometimes it takes way to long and goes up to 4,000+ RPM before it changes even at low speeds, also i plugged in a obd2 reader and its come up with the code P0730 (incorrect gear ratio), im on 80,000 miles and car was service around 120 miles ago, i have no paperwork that the transition fluid has ever been changed but it says in the owners manual that it should be done at 80,000 miles, ive been told to have the transmition fluid change and it may help with the gear ratio/problem but i dont want to pay out for that just to then pay out for a gear box repair, thanks

I would suggest that you take it to an independent Mercedes Benz mechanic in your area for his review of the transmission's issues you've discussed and obtain a professional's diagnosis, as opposed to your "feeling". Your car is 19 years old, with the original transmission fluid and filter, forget about the 80,000 miles on the ODO and NO written maintenance history.
If you don't want to have the transmission fluid and filter changed ($200), then spend the $4,000-$5,000 pounds for a rebuilt transmission with the labor costs.
Good Luck....

Sorry mate, if you had been in the Manchester area I could have given you the details of an Ex Merc mechanic that has looked after a number of Crossfires, mine included.
