Default Jump starting

I see the warnings about jump starting from another vehicle and wondered if using one of those capacitor starting devices presents the same issues? Thanks , Jim.

turn on the headlights, disconnect the negative battery cable and best practice disconnect the positive battery cable, charge the battery or replace, reconnect the positive battery cable, reconnect the negative cable, turn off the headlights.

Jump start is your least desirable choice, but it can be done. Have no idea what a capacitor jump start is, but it really doesn't sound good. Lithium battery starters are just another jump start, some may use capacitors, but again that doesn't sound good at all.

My two cents for what it's worth.

Those "capacitor starting devices" are as safe as a booster battery, just not as helpful as a booster battery.

Thanks guys. My daughter gave me on of the Lithium battery boosters for Christmas and I used it once to go get a new battery. I haven't noticed any ill effects with my 07 limited after the new battery so maybe I'm lucky. Thanks , Jim.

I have never taken the battery cables off a battery and use one of those new boosters hooked to the cables, and then try to start the vehicle (like some of those commercials show) BUT the current needed to start any vehicle passing through the wires on those newer boosters will IMHO melt way before the vehicle starts or runs. IMHO these newer flat pack boosters like a 'jump start battery box' (older tech, just a 12v battery usually an AGM type), the newer small flat battery 'boosters' are designed to raise the system voltage (as a bad cell severely limits the ability to move the available current at the lower voltage), and then current in the 'bad battery' is supplemented some at the 12+ volts provided by these newer 'flat-ish boost boxes'. Remember, none of these AGM or Li small flat 'boosters' can jump a vehicle if the battery is shot. Ever wonder why these new li flat packs have very thin wires? Again, they mostly boost the VOLTAGE to the point the remaining CURRENT in the installed battery can 'move' to start the vehicle (with limitations).

Has anyone tried to start their vehicle(s) without a battery connected (as those commercials seem to demonstrate?). I would like to know as I do not believe they have the ability to. Whomever does, make a video and post it to this post? I would not do it on a crossfire though, or newer vehicle with all the electronics nowadays, newer vehicles have a funky enough complicated electrical system.
