Flutter sound to hard clunking in drive...
My 2005 SRT 6 Coupe had a fluttering noise at about 40 + mph...checked all plastic parts, wheel well, suspension parts...nothing lose...continued to drive and got much worse...now there is a clunking noise almost immediately when I get up to 5 mph..feels like the clunking noise is right underneath me....metal clunking for sure....no vibration in transmission or steering...feels like drive line??? U joint maybe...very odd. I have looked at everything that I can see under the car and nothing looks loose...help...any suggestions of what this might be are welcome....thanks in advance.

Have you 'wobbled' the car from side to side at either front or rear fender? What you will be checking would be bearings, or anything loose that might swing into something. Next, try pushing down at each wheel from the fenders (all 4) so as to deflect each wheel to a low point for any noise/thumps. Do you have a lift available? If so check each point where the rubber Guibo's and the u-joint is located. The rubber breaks down and of course the u-joint mught be worn out. Good luck!

When the car is lifted, turn the drive shaft back and forth quickly and see if it makes that same noise. Most likely it is the driveshaft center support bearing.
You can replace this your self. The only thing you might need help with is pressing the new bearing onto the driveshaft. I had a shop press mine on for 25 bucks.
Needswings.com has a new one here for a good price: LINK - Drive shaft bearing
While you have everything apart, you might want to replace both flex joints.
Here's a post I did when I replaced mine: LINK - Driveshaft bearing & flex discs
Let us know what you find out.
