Default Super Sprint Headers

I called Super Sprint today to check on this header HDDP recommended:

Try these guys... http://www.supersprintna.com/. They already have a header system for the SLK320 which fits perfectly. Their product # 843301.

Unfortunately this part is for the CLK320 and won't fit our cars. I see in HDDP's sig he has Super Sprint Headers, were they a one off or was the guy I was talking too full of it!

This is who I contacted:

Supersprint North America

Phone: 800-239-7232
International Number: 903-581-1855

Huh? I am confused by what you are trying to say. You mention both the SLK320 and the CLK320.

SuperSprint makes headers for the SLK230. Seeing that the 230 is a 4 cylinder engine they will not fit.

Supersprint also makes headers for the C320/C32. Same engine as in the crossfire. Unfortunately underhood clearance prevents the headers from fitting.

Sorry for the typo, I meant C320. I was just confused as well because HDDP has in his sig that he has super sprint headers installed. I am just trying to figure this all out.

If I remember correctly, in a previous post HDDP stated, he has the headers but they are uninstalled.

OK guys, to clarify... The flange on the supersprint headers is a perfect fit, the clearance under the engine was not correct so we had to modify the bend at the collection end. It took about 5 hours to re-manufacture the bend. (don't forget the few hours it took to take the engine out and re-install it) Supersprint is only a dealer for the header which is made in Italy by another manufacturer, so they have no way to modify the headers themselves.

They said they would make a call to the mfg. to make a perfectly fitting set if they had enough requests. But if you have a shop you can work with, you can do the same alterations I did...

Thanks for clarifying HDDP. So what kind of performance gains do you think you got from the headers? How much were they?

I don't know who you spoke with at SuperSprint, but that product # I posted before IS for the SLK320. The only problem I had was a bit of clearance under the engine and aligning the stock pipes... If I was going to do it again, I would just have new pipes built instead of trying to adapt the OEM pipes to the header.

My shop got them for $600 and I would guess maybe 3-4hp gain at the most. But just to equate the headers alone to a specific HP gain is not really a clear picture... You have to look at the full package. 3" dual intake, optimized injectors, Denso Irridium Plugs, PowerChip Tuned, Headers, Magnaflow and a 4:1 mixture of 100 octane and Klotz Coxoc.

What would you guess the total HP is ?... I'm seeing 237 on the dyno...

It's a work in progress... I have 4 months before the season starts again. That's lots of time to tinker and experiment...

I don't know where you got your information but, but here's the link for the online product info for the supersprint SLK320 headers... it includes the photo and product #843301. http://www.supersprintna.com/catalog...t-Mercedes.pdf

Perhaps you didn't read carefully as it mentions both SLK230 and 320 on the same page... Either way, you were mis-informed.

Thanks HDDP, I did read it as SLK320 but the guy at super sprint informed me different. So what you are saying, if I am hearing you correctly, the headers will fit without modification if I do a cutsom exhaust setup?

Yes, the headers will fit but it's a pain in the *** and best done by a specialty shop instead of at home...
