Default Engine management light no fault?

First of all hello, this is my first post, recently bought a 53 crossfire, got a query, initially the engine management light came on and the code indicated that the airflow meter sensor (by the battery) was at fault, that has now been cleared/fixed but I still have an engine management light on, the reader reads no faults so there is nothing to reset....any ideas? I know it may clear if I remove the negative battery lead, which I have done but it pops back up again !
car runs well, no apparent problems, and just been serviced

Many Thanks

If the CEL keeps coming on, and your reader shows no faults, then you need another ( better ) reader.
I highly doubt the light is on with no faults, but I may be wrong.

A more advanced OBDII scanner will pick up more detailed manufacturer specific error codes. Even then they don't pick them all up, and it may be necessary to take it to a dealer or independent that has a DRBIII scanner.

Is it an engine management light or one of the other lights? Like the one that says you have "light" out? There are several indicators like this. Just checking....

A bad gas cap can cause light to come on and reset and clear the code after a little driving.

Mmm really? may sound stupid in what way? does it affect the flow of fuel to the engine and how would i spot a duff cap?

If the cap isn't sealing right it can cause the EVAP system to throw codes till the system reaches the proper pressure. You can't tell by looking at the cap if it's bad you would probably have to pressure test it to tell. I'm not saying that's the problem I'm just saying it could be a possible cause of the CEL light with no codes.

Just an update ...think it it has been cracked, found a great local garage who has the correct equipment for Chrysler and the fault was diagnosed as an air leak....a few checks round the engine bay and seems to now be cleared, although having it in for a good check as a matter of course so good news...thanks eveyone for your inputs though
