Question Fuel consumption

Having owned my Roadster for just over a month now, I seem to be averaging around 240 miles per tank of petrol. Is this the norm or is my right foot too heavy?

Cool Re: Fuel consumption

Is that kms or miles? If it's miles then I must have a hole in my tank!

I get 220-240 miles urban (quite a lot of stop starting/short journeys) and 300 miles motorway with cruise on at 80 with spurts of kickdown on the autobox so your consumption seems about right.

Anybody know where to get a cheaper luggage cover than the standard one from Chrysler, which I think costs $200-300, I just want something basic?

I think you need to ask yourself again, maybe you forgot the question or answer!

Since April 21, 2005 I have averaged 364 miles per tank, requiring 53.75 liters of fuel with an average economy of 30.86 miles per UK gallon.

Best economy of 33.70 miles per UK gallon.
Best range on one tank is 427 miles.

Cool Re: Fuel consumption

Wow...how have you managed that? Was it non-urban/gentle driving? And has it improved as the mileage has increased?

16mpg?!? Do you stuck in traffic iso driving around?
While normal driving and cruising I get around 9.2l/100km (~30.7 mpg)
On german motorways (no speed limit) the car takes 12l/100km (~23.5 mpg)

Am I still too slow? Or not aggressive enough?

ps: you have the same miles as the US, don't you? Because the gallon is different.

This was pure town driving I got 16 MPG.

There is 4.54 litres in our gallon.
I wish they had fitted a fuel computer in the Crossfire although you would probably cry everytime you look at it.
The thing is the car encourages you to put the foot down.
It's just so much fun.

Look at the outside temperature indicator and think it's a fuel computer. During summer it gives you a better feeling -> 27. mpg?! wow, cool!!!

I've been trying to drive economically this week. Have just done 175 miles and the fuel gauge is still at the 2/3 full mark, I think I am succeeding. Hopefully will beat my best of 427 miles on a tank this time.

That’s impressive but it must have a zero fun factor!

Just seen a petrol price of 92.9p for Unleaded in Clacton. My local Sainsburys in Ipswich is 85.9p and two Esso's around that are 89.9p. Can't be long before we see the dreaded £1 a litre.

...what does fuel cost in the UK these days? Here in the states it's around $2.50 for "premium"...still cheap enough for a lot of Americans to sign the check every month for a 5,000 pound SUV. By American standards, 17 mpg in the city isn't that bad. It's below average for a passenger car, but not too shabby.

Wow... that is absolutely terrible. If I lived over there, I would use public transportation during the week, and use the car on the weekend. Here in the USA, we don't have that option in many of our major metro areas. For example, here in Detroit, there is no commuter rail, the buses only reach a portion of the major suburbs, and taxi rides can be extremely expensive due to the huge amount of distance the metro area has sprawled. Therefore, we are forced to drive. I live 25 miles from work, and that is typical. But, we have folks in the office that drive as much as 65 miles EACH WAY every morning.

From my travels, it seems that Japan has just about the best public transportation in the world. One guy that I know over there has just a few thousand Km on his two year old Toyota. It is used mainly for weekend drives to and from the countryside.
