Default Multivex Mirrors

Hi,

I installed multivex mirrors to help with the blindspot. They work nicely. In fact my wife loves them and wonders why all the car mfgs don't use them.

Super simple to install. I higly recommend them. I'm about to order another set for my daily driver.

Are they affixed on top of the existing OEM mirrors? How much farther do they protrude than OEM? Thanks for the tip.

Found this on there website. MultiVex mirrors may be mounted directly over "heated" OEM mirrors, which will transfer the heat to the MultiVex for defogging and defrosting. MultiVex mirrors may be mounted directly over high-intensity "LED" signal arrow mirrors, while retaining the signal arrow function, because the reflective coating on the MultiVex is semi-transparent and the signal arrow shines through.

I think how far they protrude depend son the application, On the Crossfire, driver side they extend just a bit on the mirror closes to the door. On the passenger side all is fine.

You can seal the gap between the two mirrors using black silicone, especially if you have the heated mirrors as this will help trap the heat between the two.

I am very satisfied with them. The blind spot is gone.

Take a look at this lengthy thread from the Lotus Elise forum. Those guys love these mirrors. Sounds like a nice addition for safety without compromising aesthetics at all.

Not to be a wuss, but what is "black silicone" and how does it work? Thanks.

You can get black silicone in a caulking tube at Lowes or Home Depot. It's the same kind of stuff you use for caulking around bath tubs, windows, doors, etc.. but black.

Is it the exact same shape and size so you don't really see anything looking out or the ordinary?

from what's pictured on their site, it looks like the same shape of the oem glass, which is what I want. I have one of those goofy fish eye lenses on my mirror now but it's ugly and kinda small, so I hope this is a perfect fit.

I'm always a hard critic of aftermarket parts, so I'll let you know if it's worth the $35.

Sounds like what I would be interested in as well. Please let me know what you think of it.

Maxwell,

Did you get everything in the three photos for $73?

I've had a set installed for about 6 weeks. They take a little time to get used to but they do work great. When driving in the "sport mode" you can see far more with these mirrors with just a quick glance.

I installed them over the OEM mirrors with some black silicone and they sit pretty flush. I was going replace the OEM's from the start but thought if I didn't like them I could just remove with some plastic fishing line. If I had known how well they really do work I would have replaced the OEM's.

Just got home from a test drive after installing a boost gauge - time for a cold one.

Relax,

It's hardly vapor ware... several of us are using them.

Therre was a holiday last week so that may have slowed the mail...

I ordered two sets, which arrived last week packed very safely and securely. The mirrors seem to be very high quality construction with excellent optics. I haven't installed them yet, but the company did include detailed installation and use instructions, including a special page for the Lotus Elise bezeled mirror (see the web forum reference posted above). Good choice, Glenn, and thanks again for the tip!

Update from Multivex mirrors.

Due to a breakdown of glass bending machinery, we are about 3 to 4 weeks away from shipping more mirrors.

Thank you,

I'm interested in trying to get a group buy going if others are interested too. How about it?

I would be interested. I've been to Germany multiple times and rented cars - these mirrors really help with the blind spot. I don't know why the US doesn't allow them.
