The strakes do make the hood more rigid. I REALLY do like the looks of our hood. I wouldnt mind some vents back by the window lik the MB has to let some heat out. Someone did a photoshop of them on a SSB and it looked pretty good. Sublte, functional, cold air inlets would be really nice.

I really like the hood. But, it just makes me sick that Chrysler later used it on Sebrings, Pacificas, etc.

I second that. It should have been a one of a kind.

I hate that to.
As a matter of fact my last trip to Key West, Florida I saw so many of those darn sebring convertibles running around it made me crazy.
Each time a saw one coming up the street from a distance I was just hoping it was a Crossfire (same front end )
The grill and the hood are identical.
Ended up only seeing one Crossfire in Key West after a whole week being there.
Those rental places must only offer Sebrings !!

It sounds like Key West would be a great market to sell a xfire roadster. (Not that I have any plans to sell.)

OK Guys, here's the real deal on the hood strakes. I have 2006 Crossfire brochure that say's, and I quote " See a hood influenced by the sleek designs of America's early 20th. century locomotives."

Thats why I really bought the car. I wanted to believe that I was driving a locomotive. Wouldn't it be cool if the whole rest of the car looked like a locomotive? I'm sure you would be the envy of all of your friends and relatives.

Just think of the amazed owners of other cars when a locomotive blows their doors off.

I could not agree more!!! I cringe everytime I see the Sebring convertible and actually had a Sebring guy come up to me in a bar the other night and say...."don't ya just love the hoods on 'our' cars"! Lumped in with Sebrings...what a pill to choke down!

Before I actually got my "custom" hood finished, I was having 2nd. thoughts about replacing my original Crossfire hood, because I liked it too.
Then one day while in a grocery store parking lot I came face to face with a new Sebring 4dr sedan for the 1st. time, and was taken back at how much they resembled the Crossfire (from straight on). Then as it passed by me the driver had this huge grin on his face, and I got a better look at the rest of his car, and the only thing I could think of was "POS" fleet car.
I made up my mind right there and then, that I was doing the right thing, (for me).
I still love the hood strakes on our cars, but Sebrings don't bother me anymore.

!

Hey calm down sparky! a loaded Sebring convertible is probably listing close to what dealers are selling new XF's for (24-25K)r. And the loaded Aspen definitely costs waaay more dough! Bettter we keep our hubris confined to crossfireforum.org lest we get hoisted up by our petards.

Gfalcone, I sure hope all of your "wives" don't mind sharing that Sebring.
