Wiper grommets the same?
One of the wiper pivot-to-cowl cover grommets (aka "insulator" in MB-speak) was missing on my XF, so I just installed one. However it is too big (hole in the black plastic cowl cover is too small, as well as off-center). Could someone please look at your XF's and tell me:
1) Are both grommets installed on yours? Mine was missing on the driver's (US=left) side.
2) If you have a driver's side grommet, is it the same size as the other?
Here's a dark pic of the locations:

Thanks!

Both of mine are missing, not worried about it really.
But I did just help another member install a new siren. I didn't see any difference in the right and left caps when I removed them. Going back on, I put a nice glob of black silicone on each one to keep them from coming off in the future.

Mine was also missing one wiper-nut cap -- the MB replacement was $$, but fit great. But are your (and others?) rubber pivot-to-cowl grommets missing (too)?

I had to purchase a nut cover as well, it was $7. but worth it.
OK -- thanks! Sounding like a last-second installation problem at the factory -- they didn't mold the hole in the cowl cover correctly.
I just put the new grommet under the wiper arm (and on top of the cowl cover), and reinstalled the wiper arm. _If_ I drove the XF in the rain, a lot, the new grommet would fall apart over time. Not likely to happen ...

I have no grommets, and it came with no caps-I bought those 2 years ago.
I'll find a suitable replacment for the grommets and let you know. Another mission!

my center nut cover (easy guys
) was missing, $7 to replace, then noticed my d/s grommit was missing too. Ive tried to pull the wiper off but all I could seem to manage to do was get the nut off (easy guys) and it seems like theres no way to remove the wiper arm...any help?
Loosen the nut until almost off. Spray some penetrating oil (PB Blaster, etc...) down around the splines. I had to use a battery terminal puller to get both of them off. I found them to be corroded (different metals) and caused them to be locked on and they were harder to get off than I expected. Both sides had caps on them so they didn't help at all.
Keep the nut on the shaft so you don't mushroom the threads on the shaft when using the terminal puller.

I couldn't remove my wipers as well so I went to Advanced Auto to buy a battery terminal remover as James stated when I got there they sold a wiper puller so I bought that and it works perfectly. I think it was about $10. I use it all the time to remove the wiper arms when I treat the wiper cowl to restore the color. Pat
wow i thought the techs at chrysler kept ripping me off, i just replaced the drivers side cap and its already missing! good to know this is a common problem before i gave the service manager crap for this missing cap.

But I appreciate it as I have two isolators on order.I will be fitting one soon I guess. I have a spare.
Part number, Chrysler #5101283AA
My dealer never bothers to call me when they are in, I have ordered parts and they have returned them to the warehouse, makes you wonder why they are in trouble.
Old post, LugNut hasn't posted for18 months. LOL
