Default Our Headlights do not turn off automatically

Went to the gym the other night and forgot to turn off my headlights. Hard to notice since when you turn them off and get out of the car they stay on for awhile.

Came back an hour later and my headlights were still on. Sure enough my switch was still in the "on" position. Thank goodness I had a new battery and the car started right up.

Most of my modern cars would have shut the lights off after xx minutes even if the switch was left on.

Hopefully I learned my lesson.

Actually, when you lock your car, the lights come on for a short while. But It isn't the headlights, It's a smaller parking light, above and to the outside of the headlight itself. So when you lock the car, look at it directly and you will know for sure. I accidentally turned my lights too far to the right to the European parking mode while it was parked in my garage. I didn't notice, so a week later I found the battery dead. The car does some really quirky, almost Christine like things when you start to charge it after it has been fully discharged.

One more click to the left and the right parking light will stay lit.
Two clicks and the left parking light stays lit.

Say you park out on the street in the normal manner (passenger side next to the curb). You would turn on your left tail light to assist drivers in seeing your parked car better in the dark vs no lights on at all.

Not for LONG term parking of course.

I THINK EPM is an acronym for European Parking something mumble...mumble.

My foglights also stay on after driving with them on for ~ 1 minute. HID's and no mistaking that they are on!

My hhr ss spoils me with the remote start and auto headlights that come on and shut off by itself using light sensors. I want to get a remote start for all my cars, they kick butt in the winter!

I was at bar one night and someone told me my lights were on....I couldnt figure it out to save my life. I thought I installed my HID's in wrong. Turned out it was the parking lights. I was turning to far.

How many people would like auto lights in this car? So if it's dark, they come on automatically when the car is on and when you turn the car off, they go off automatically?

In Europe they find this helpful because of the very narrow streets. Many times one has to park one side of a car up on the curb to leave enough room for others to get by. However, I wouldn't recommend driving the Crossfire over a curb.

In Canada we have "Semi-auto Headlights" on the Crossfire, we call them Day Time Running Lights.

I'm sure Rudy can come up with something. My hand is up also.

But, the premise is wrong. I left my lights on with the car in my dad's garage. When I went to get it two days later, they were off. They did it all by themselves.

After recharging the battery I noticed the computer, tripmeter, clock etc had all automticaly reset as well. Cool.

Did you whack the slider switch to "OFF" on the overhead?

My guess is either the over head switch being moved to the off position or the door switch going wrong, does the light go on when you open the passenger door?
