Default Lift Gate lights

Know this will probably make some of you laugh Have had my 07 Crossfire cpe for a little over 2 months and the two small lights in the lift gate on each side of the latch do not light up when I open the trunk unless the engine is on. Is this just a quirk of the car or is there an adjustment
I can make so they come on when opening the trunk without the engine on? Thanks.

Are you referring to the license plate illumination lights? If so, they would only come on when you have your headlights on.

No. Not the plate illumination lights. The two small lights one on each side of the latch on the inside of the tail gate.

Ok, sorry Kitty. As you can see from my signature, I have a roadster so I was not familiar with the lights in the hatch of the coupe. I am sure you will get some good advice here soon.

my baby is still in storage, but if I'm not mistaken there is a switch on the sides of them and that may be in the position so only on when the engine is on. i know mine go on whenever I open the hatch, engine on or not.

Do your interior dome lights turn on when the engine off and a door is open? I believe on mine that the trunk hatch lights are on the same door circuit as the dome lights. I could be mistaken. I will check as soon as I leave work and let you know.

Where in NJ are you located? I'm in Morristown. Haven't seen many Crossfires around here, only one red one with a gentleman driving it (he wasn't very nice, I think he didn't like that I had an SRT). Other than that, none in my area.

Actually, those are the license plate lights on the coupe as well. Both the coupe and the roadster have 2 license plate lights that are just to the left and right of the hatch handle and 1 rear interior light which on the coupe is on the driver side of the trunk area just in front of the taillight access door. On the roadsters, it is on the passenger side on the back plastic rear panel. Those lights are only supposed to be on with the parking lights. Can you check if perhaps they are on with the courtesy lights when you turn the car off? Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
