Windshield Replacement Advice Needed Please
Hello,
Myr SRT6 has developed a crack in the windshield. It looks like an upside down, capital "L". In total, about 5-6" long. I called one repair shop that I am familiar with (Perry Glass) and they quoted me $870.71 for OEM glass from Mopar, including tax and install and $481.88 for PPG glass, including tax and install. She did not show Pilkington Glass as an option in her system. Is anyone familiar with PPG glass? It is made in the USA, not China or Mexico.
I am going to go call another shop now. I would like to have the OEM glass or the Pilkington, which I would think is the same thing....but $900 vs. $500 is a bit much. Thanks Chrysler!
Thank you,
KrzyFast

They should be able to tell you what differance exist between the glass. IMO, I don't think there is much difference, other than paying more for for OEM. I'd go with the $500 option.
Thanks FP. I agree, but I had read on here where a member or 2 went with the Mexico or China version and was not happy. No one mentioned PPG, and I have no idea. I am just trying to make sure it is a good quality glass and that it has the 3rd sun visor (black dots around the rear view).
I just called a shop near my office and they are estimating $228.45 including tax and install for Pilkington glass. I would have thought that the prices would have been closer.....I was expecting something in the $350-400 range. This new quote is great, but is suspeciously low at the same time......
Thanks again! I will report back after I call around a bit more.
Cheers,
KrzyFast

Had independent furnish and install the Pilkington Glass for $252.00 in wifes roadster about two years ago and have had no problems and this was about 6 months after I paid the $500.00 charge to the Chrysler dealer to install the Mopar windshield for the first cracked incident
since that time for a $16 charge added to my insurance the next one costs nothing and no deductible
