Painting the headlight projectors?
Has anyone ever thought of painting the headlight projectors the same color as their paint?
I have a Black N/A coupe and was wondering if you all think it would look weird to have the projectors (grey/silver part) of the headlight housing painted black to match the body of the car?
The newer model Corvette's have this done and personally I think it looks great. Although it seems the projectors (assuming they are in fact, projectors) are highly recessed..
Anyway, just a thought! I realize the headlight would have to be removed and taken apart to do this... but I think it could look great!

Eric Henderson

It has been done already. I recall someone in Europe did this to his Blaze red coupe when he installed angel eyes. I didn't care much for it in red. Maybe other colors may work.

But if you notice in those pictures he still left the housing around the lenses silver...
Would it be possible to paint those as well?

You can paint the whole thing if you like.... it would certainly be a different look....
we want lots of pics if you do it.... and a tutorial on how you did it...

Anyway, here it is. I would want the green part to be black. But I think it could look great!
Also thinking about getting my OEM (7 spoke) rims powder-coated/painted in gloss black.... any opinions on adding a dark carbon fiber lip to that once I get them black?

Edit: Sorry for the small size of the picture... I don't know how to change it. If you're having trouble, go to: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/263219...oupe-2d/page-6 and scroll down until you find it.

First off, The color or lack of has got to be due to his download I don't think there is a paint manufacturer that would create anything close to that horid tint
And secondly I have been guilty of the same comment especially in the past but we must stop saying things are,
Bad,
ugly,
Not my style,
terrible...
and start realizing that anyone that has the courage to take a saw and cut the top off their car in the name of customizing should be praised maybe even put on a pedistal.
While many of us wonder and imagine some actually try it.
Besides for every downed Crossfire there is a more valued stocker

Just took a look at that thread, looks TOTALLY awesome.
Very unique, I think this is a way better way to go than tinting the headlights.
Are you running HIDs? I have 55w 6000k's in both high's and low's, love em.
Thanks for giving this a shot and posting pics!

Yea im running 12kalvin hid's both hi and low. I may switch it up though and use something a little less exotic. Cops around here don't like them...or anything else on the car for that matter lol.. but yea at different angles/lights they look totally black then jump out at you ( like animal eyes) pretty cool effect
