Yep-listen to James. Those last 3 posts were 100% on the money.

What you see is called "crazing", and is micro cracks in the surface. They are much shallower than they appear. Often caused by application of a solvent, ie alcohol or acetone. Not in our case however.
They will sand out with effort. The 3M kit will work if you follow the directions.

Just treated the drivers side today wit the 3M kit. It was so bad I used up all the sanding disks on just one side, but it looks like new!

Finally fixed my scratched/fogged headlights today with the Meguiars Heavy Duty Headlight Restoration kit that you suggested. Was on sale at AdvanceAuto Parts for $23.99. I can't believe how they look now...like brand new! I had read reviews but was still reluctant to "sand" my plastic headlights, but man did it do the trick. Wish I did it a long time ago. It was so easy to do that I was concerned that it wouldn't turn out. Now want to tell every person I see with cloudy lights about this stuff. Once again...helpful advice from the forum. Thanks.

I had excellent results with the Sylvania Headlight Restoration Kit from Advance Auto Parts. It was only $19.99 and well worth the price. Time will tell as to how well the restoration holds up, but right now they look factory fresh.
