Funny, I was just griping about missing my Crossfire for that very reason this morning. Wifey's Honda Accord is void of this function, and I was in traffic before I made this observation. Had to scrape my mirror with my driver's license at the red light...

My car is in Florida for it's semi-winter nap, so hopefully I won't ever need this in that area.

But it is nice to know.

(And I'm stuck in NY till after the Holidays, very depressing from a driving standpoint).

So the trick to engage is to toggle on the rear defroster...???

I'm assuming this is available to all Limited Xfires and above, including the SRT's...

Hold on there Ghost, let's not make rash assumptions.

HEATED MIRRORS - SERVICE INFORMATION

DESCRIPTION

The exterior mirrors are equipped with heater elements located
behind the mirror glass (1) on each sideview mirror. With the
ignition switch turned to the ON/RUN or START positions, the
sideview mirror heater elements are powered. The heater elements
behind each sideview mirror cannot be repaired. If
faulty or damaged, the entire sideview mirror assembly must
be replaced. For complete sideview mirror removal procedures,
see sideview mirror removal in this section.
Refer to

Page 8N-72
.

The mirror glass would have cleared when you turned on the ignition and the rear glass defogger as well when you switched it on but by that time the mirror glass was warming up already. They are fused on separate circuits.

Totally Cool!

Maybe I should have looked in the manual first... I love this car!
My '04 NA owners manual says automatically, I take that as "ON" all the time and the '05 SRT says when the rear defrost is turned on. The wiring diagram shows all the time with the ignition on. I have both cars still so an actual test is in order. Why ain't things simple?

I think I saw somewhere on the forum that earlier models turn on with rear defrost, but later models do not (maybe based on temp?). I like the rear defrost control option the best (more control)!

I just looked in my owners manual. There is an ADDENDUM. It replaces the information in section 3 of the manual. It states
MIRRORS
Heated Remote Control Mirrors

On early production vehicles, both outside mirrors are heated automatically to melt frost or ice. On late production vehicles, both outside mirrors are heated to melt frost or icc when the Rear Window Defroster switch is depressed.

I guess I remembered backwards. Anyway, mine work with the rear defrost.

BUMP. Just ordered a replacement mirror for my passenger side, as mine was damaged in a parking lot. The used mirror I purchased does not have a plug for the heater, assuming it was on a Crossfire that was not equipped with the heated mirror function. Was it an option? If so, on which models?

Only LTD and SRT models have heated mirrors.
Base models do not have them.
