Footwell Illumination
Hey guys,
Grabbed a set of LEDs from Autozone, installed it today.
I like it so far, the photo is a little bit over exposed, so they look brighter than actual.
Here Comes the pics.

Little bit of details.
I tapped into map light. Red wire is +, Brown/Yellow is the - that goes with the map/door light control.
Let me know what you think.
Thanks.

I really wished it would change to 256 colors...lol...
However, it only give me option of 7 colors. But I would say it's good enough to have these 7 colors of combinations.
I installed a 12" LED strip on both sides in mine. Red. And red LED's in the maplight too.
If I actually have to SEE anything, I have a cigarette lighter LED map light I can plug in. I've used it once in 5 years!

Thanks.
If you peel off the A-Pilar cover, there's a electrical tape covered set of 4 wires.
Tap into Red/Gray for "+", Brown/Yellow for "-". It will go together with the door control.
So when the door opens, LED comes on together with the map light. The door closes, LED will go off. If you turn on the map light, it will come on as well. If you use switch to disable the map light, they will not come on.
This way, it is easy to install. The complex part would be taking apart the center consul. However, if you only take off the CD Player, switches, you can sneak the wire through.
I'm also thinking about putting a set of these behind the seats, and wire it like the illuminated door sill, so it will come on by the door opened. (e.g. if only driver side door opens, the footwell for both will come on, but behind the seats, only the driver side comes on. Also want to figure out how to get the illuminated door sill change color by simple switches. )
Hope it helps.
Cheers.

My God, can you believe I listened to the whole song?
So do you have to do this to both A-pillars or just one? Also, where did you run the wires? Read something about removing the CD player, but how would you get he wires from the driver's A-pillar to here? Thanks.
Only the ride side A-Pillar. That's where the wire is.
The left side A-Pillar is for the garage door opener.
You DO need to remove the CD Player, but not the whole center concle. Just remove the CD Player and the switches, about 2 screws, then you can get the wire through the plastic.
Hope it helps.
I installed some red tubes that I used to have in my old TC just because I was bored. I wired them into the back of the cigarette lighter since I never use it. So I have the lights turn on with the car everytime.

Wrong wire. You probably tapped into a constant on wire.
If you tap into the wrong wire, just change it to whatever applicable.
Although I doubt it, but sometimes manufacture change the wire coloring around, or there're some previous modification applied to the car. In that case, take off the map light, trace the switched wire color, then tap into the correct one.
In this particular case, + is always available, while - is where sensor controlled. So Just change the negative, try finding the correct wire.
Hope it helps.
