Default Replaced trunk lift supports

I finally replaced the trunk lift supports, and they raise the hatch much more easily and it closes much more softly. The only problem is when opening, the force of the new supports causes the trunk to rattle and pop when it is fully extended. Sounds almost like they are loose, but I popped them on the little ***** as instructed. Is there some sort of secret?

I replaced mine and the same thing happened. I tried two different brands. I think it has just been so long since I replaced them that I forgot it probably did that before. What brand did you use? The oem ones are terrible expensive.

I believe the brand is StrongArm. I'm hoping they'll wear down after a month or so of use.

Same issue here after new struts!
I now slowly open the trunk and don't let it "pop" open by itself...
