NEW Fog Light housings, LED based. Who would want this to happen?
NEW Fog Light housings, LED based. Who would want this to happen?
***********Serious Question*****************
I have the ability to basically have a new type of fog light made for our cars, which is LED based like the modern ones from Audi/Mercedes/BMW.
The problem is, there needs to be REAL interest in them, and people would need to actually buy them if these are to be made.
TRS, the company I tried very hard to make known to everyone here for their HID components and quality parts in general would be the one handling the remake of our foglights.
They have already made new types for Mazda, Acura, Ford, and many others.
Our fog light housings go for $200 a PIECE, which is insane cost wise. Their new LED type housings will retail for $165 a pair. That's a bargain if you consider how expensive the normal ones are, which aren't that great at lighting the road in all honesty.
It's time for a new fog light housing to be made, who would share interest in this? I need serious buyers only to respond to this post please.
BTW: they would have a 10 YEAR WARRANTY on them.

These will be direct bolt on, without any need for modification. They have made housings in OEM specs for many other brands of cars, so I figured you guys would want something more reliable, with better output available for our Xfires.

This is the type of work you can expect from TRS if they make our new housings. They will cost us $170 for a pair, and perform better than stock.

They do not make full headlight housings yet unfortunately, but they do WANT to get into that business down the road. Let me talk to Matt and see what they would like from us in terms of the amount of people for the fog lights.
They will more than likely need a group buy of some sort to be set up, which is fine with me.

Well, this sucks. Here's Matt's response.

Thanks for the email, definitely appreciate the suggestion here!
Unfortunately though, from what I can tell, no other vehicles in the Chrysler/MB lineup share the same model fog light as the Crossfire, therefore the amount of potential customers is reduced by a good bit. Though I am sure everybody out there who has a Crossfire and is modding it would buy them, the audience is just limited.
Producing a brand new model can cost upwards of $30K depending on the complexity, we always judge based on potential to not only break even, but produce some income thereafter of course.
Thanks again for your interest and taking the time to make the suggestion though Adrian, wish I had a different answer for ya
Have a good weekend!

It looks to me like the 3 mounting points on the fog housing are all on the same plane, in that accurate?
If I can have a sample of the fog light, we may be able to develop an adapter bracket that will allow one of the XB fogs to mount in place, thats a possibility I can see!

So I have talked to Matt again from TRS, and his prognosis is looking good actually. He said he won't really be able to make a fresh bracket for ours, because of the stupid unique design to them, but he has a better method. He is currently making a GM class LED foglight that has the same diameter as the inside of our fog light bowls. We can just unbolt the bowl, replace it with the new LED bowl from the GM series, and screw it back on. Stay tuned for more info from myself or Greg.

Is he looking at this as a "busted lens" scenario? Advanced LED lighting would be nice but the main issue is from busted lens replacement prices. "non destructive" testing please.. LOL
Re: NEW Fog Light housings, LED based. Who would want this to happen?
Apparently the factory bowl can be just taken out with a few screws only holding it. And the new LED bowl assembly can be just screwed in. Message him real quick for a better explanation, but that's the gist of it that I got.
