Rear Fog Lights
I would like to know if the Europeian Crossfires have rear fog lights like the MB SLK 320. The light switch does have a position for rear fog lights. Pull it out two clicks.
Yes we have rear fog lights. On the headlight switch are two positions. First pull out position is for the front ones and second pull out is for the rear fog light. Also we have on the headlight switch level adjuster to adjust the headlight.
i ordered a driver's side taillamp assembly from Germany with the rear fog lamp lens in it. ordered it from CTD. if you want one and dont want to go the OE route, go here: www.rallylights.com
headlight level adjust? wow. is that electric? where on the headlight switch is it located?

Yes it is an electrical thing that adjusts your headlights. It is located on the right side on the headlight switch. You can choose option 0 for one passenger or option 1 for two passengers and backs in the trunk. The adjustment is for a better driving by night. If you sit in you car with a passengers and back in the trunk then the car is in the back deeper as in the front. Then the headlights will shine more in the Air but you want the light on the street and not in the air. Then you choose option 1 and the headlights go down and the light is on the street and not in the air. If you drive alone then you choose option 0 and the headlights goes up and you see more in front of the street. Hope that will help you.
Thank you. We have the switch but no rear fog lamps. Will have to see if the wireing is in the American version. Could you get the lamp part number. Thanks again.
Can you adjust the level of the headlights or just from low to high beam.

Do you have a picture of that rear light and is the wiring already in the back or did you have to cobble something together yourself?
Thanks
ill take a picture as soon as this snow goes away >(
theres no wiring at all. its a different wiring harness and its a different headlamp switch than the euro-spec models. i had to create my own little setup. right now my switch is in the trunk; once spring comes i want to run a wire into the dash and get a real switch that i can use to turn it on and off without getting out of the car. maybe by then il figure out how to hack into the headlamp switch and run it off there.

Now... there is normally only ONE rear (driver-side) fog but depending on wether the car is RHD or LHD it could be in either rear light. In most Saab's everything was there except the bulb so you could easily make the rear fog into fog lights. Is the Crossfire that way too?
i think two rear fog lights is misleading because it looks like brake lights. that being said... most, if not all British cars have two rear fog lamps, and newer German cars (eg. audi a6) and even one American car (Oldsmobile) has two rear fog lamps.
the general rule is whichever side of your car is closer to the center median, thats the side that the rear fog lamp should be on.
UK Crossfires have the rear fog lamp on the right side; German, Aussie, and probably others have theirs on the left-hand side of the car.

Most cars here in Germany have only one rear fog lights. It is ever the driver side! You can switch the rear fog light on only if you switch on the front ones first then in second the raer ones goes on. It is a two way function. If you want you can use the wiring and hardware of the switch from the SLK. The system is very very simple.
finally got around to taking pictures. not the best shot; its a bad time of day
