The used part from eBay for $32.00 fixed the problem.

Thanks everyone for the help.

It was a weird issue. That little tab must be fragile and just let go. When I took it apart I almost didn't see the small part fall out.

When we see parts like this it makes you realize the impact that plastic has had on the design of a multitude of parts that would have cost more or not have been economical to make any other way. The downside is that the parts have a habit of failing either due to poor design, poor material selection and the weakness of the plastic due to aging.
With the amount of plastic in modern cars the long term outlook is not too good.☹️
