Default Marine who proposed at Angels Stadium dies in Iraq

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

(remembers a bumper sticker he saw)

"For those who fought for it, freedom has a taste the protected will never know."

FirebaseD ...
I read the whole article ... very moving.

I've never served, I'll never know that 'taste', but I do support all the men and women that serve our country, at home and abroad.

(sits quietly)

makes me wonder what's the difference between him and i ... the difference is he won't be around to see the fruits of his labor blossom ... the difference is my family threatened me when i came home with a marine recruiter to speak about joining ... and yet i envy him and his fate, the brightest stars burn out the quickest, but what was the last time you noticed the dimmer stars around it ?

i regret to see another hero taken from us, especially one that was there for the right reason with the right mindset... especially one taken away from us by a cowardly bomb...

I wish the fear that one must endure during combat on no person. To be there is to know and understand people are no more then human, we can all die without warning. You are there to fight for what you or others believe to be the truth, you do not question it. It is not the job of a warrior to ask why, even while watching other warriors die around him, it is a warriors job to do what he was born to do... hooah

At this writing my son is in San Diego Marine Corp Recruit Depot. He's struggling with the requirements, and may not make it through Boot Camp, but he's always had it in his heart to be a US Marine. And despite my service as a SUBmariner, I am proud of his decision. Should he make it through and become one of the few and the proud I pray that I never have to read any similar article.

My thoughts and prayers are with all those who serve the cause of freedom, and for those of us behind supporting them. Ah-oooooo-gahhhhhh. Dive... Dive.

May the number of your surfaces always match the number of your dives.
