Default Red Sox Shirt buried at the new Yankee Stadium...

I'm sure many of you have heard about the David Ortiz/Red Sox shirt that a construction worker buried at the site of the new Yankee Stadium to put a curse on the Yankees. After the news of the shirt buried at that location was leaked to the media, construction workers jack-hammered through two feet of concrete to remove it from the future home of the Yankees. The shirt was then put on eBay to raise money for the Jimmy Fund, a children's charity sponsored by the Red Sox for as long as I can remember.

Well a friend purchased the shirt for $175,000. Along with the tattered Ortiz shirt comes a new autographed Ortiz shirt, and two tickets to a Red Sox game where the presentation will be made. A good buy for $175,000? Apparently my friend thinks so. His Dad died of cancer and he feels the donation to the Jimmy Fund is well worth it.

By the way, it was my friend, Kevin Meehan, the owner of Imperial Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ford, and Chevrolet that was the highest bidder. Kevin figures he got a great deal and will be putting the shirt, along with a lot of other sports memorabilia at one of his dealerships.

Kevin completed the new Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep Dealership last year. His new Ford Dealership in opening in a week next door, and his new Chevrolet Dealership is about to break ground next door too.

The Chrysler Dealership has all Blues Brother memorabilia. The Ford Dealership is all Rock 'n' Roll Memorabilia, and the Chevy Dealership will be all Sports Memorabilia. Kevin wants to make a trip to his dealerships a fun trip. He also offers free muffins, bagels, coffee and other drinks for free while you wait. In the very near future he is adding a strip mall, a children's playground, and a historic diner. He wants his businesses to be a destination where mom and dad can bring their kids while they tend to their automotive needs. Kevin is one smart businessman. You can visit his dealerships on the web at www.imperialcars.com .

Wouldn't it be funny if the Yankees got cursed for REMOVING the jersey?

Selling it with the proceeds going to the new england based Jimmy fund, was a great gesture.

The idea of giving the proceeds to a BOSTON charity was the idea of the NEW YORK Yankees
( I hate the Yankees, I am a Mets fan....)
