Sorry to put up an image-only post, but this thing is pretty rad looking.

In fact, looking at this thing, I could easily pick out what features would have been on the next-gen Crossfire. Think hood, fenders, headlights, taillights and lines.

Instead of the Sebring, they should have just built this thing.

 

Maybe because it's BUTT UGLY !!!..... IMHO

I think that was at the Detroit show about two years ago. I would bet that the next 300 (2010) will pick up a lot of the features that concept had. The thing was absolutely huge in person!

 

I saw this at the LA Auto Show last year and it looks great in person. But instead of giving us something unique and with some style, they give us the Journey.

Chrysler has also shown the Airflite concept at LA a couple of times - it looks like a Crossfire sedan - but they gave us the Sebring instead.

 

I personally find that car (Nassau) to be fugly all around. It looks like a slightly curvier Malibu Maxx from a couple years back. The only thing making it look semi-cool is those enormous wheels. Nice interior though. Not realisitic for a production car, but a cool inerior concept.

 

That Airflite was one of the ugliest focking cars I have ever seen. It actually was the inspiration for the Sebring...and that sucks too. Whoever thought they could take styling cues from a two seat hatchback sports car and translate them into a mainstream four door sedan was an idiot.

 

I disagree about the Airflite being ugly. I like it and wished Chrysler had built it instead of fiddling with the style and keeping the Sebring name. I find it surprising how by simply changing a few lines. the Airflite morphed from a neat looking sedan into a not so neat looking sedan.

I second that....now if only I could get it for the same price I paid or my crossfire...

 

Sooner or later Chrysler is going to have to do something more radical to match the upgraded stying of the BMWs and Mercedes.

The new Chevys and Fords look like crap and the new Hondas look like the BMWs. I think they know that Chrysler owners won't pay the big bucks for such great styling. So they won't invest in anything too radical. They still have a somewhat lousy reputation to deal with, despite the success of the 300C and Touring.

If they had just marketed the Crossfire properly, they would have had a good seller for themselves. I think both of the above shown cars look pretty much like 4-door Crossfires. Allthough the styling of the first one is a little furhter away from the crossfire design.

 

the Nassau was on display at Woodward...looks a little better in person, but not for me....there was a couple of Challanger R/T's driving around as well, they looked impressive...hell, there were a lot of iron driving around that looked impressive...

 

looks like a fastback Sebring, Yuck that is just NASTY!

 

I saw this at Woodward as well and there is some of the exterior that looks good but the interior is awsome.

 

BTW, I'm talking about the Nassau and not the Airflite.

That thing is butt fugly! If Chrysler had put a decent front end on the Xf (Jag like maybe?) if would have been an instant classic.

 

The sad truth is Chrysler has lost some of their best engineers and designers to the competition.

Eric Stoddard, the designer of the Crossfire prototype now works for Hyundai and Kia. You might have noticed how much the Korean car's styling has improved in the past few years !

Lutz and some of his team are now at GM. If the Chevy HHR reminds you of the PT Crusier that's because the same designers created it. But now they work for the General, not Chrysler ! Chrysler was known for being able to bring showcars/prototypes into production vehicles.Sadly enough, they seem to have lost that talented bunch that accomplished that. Their latest efforts are just sad. Airflite-Sebring, Jeep Compass showcar -Compass production vehicle are glaring examples of badly botched attempts at translating showcars into production vehicles.

That's the problem with these "whitecollar staff reductions" going on at domestic brands. These are talented experianced people. They not tossing their degrees and resumes into the trash; they go out and find new jobs in their field and contribute their skills and talent to the competition !

It's like a struggling major league ball team trading their higest priced, most talented players to save on payroll costs. These players are back on the field the next week; playing for the opposition and beating their former team ! It's just like a starving farmer eating his seed-corn; you'll not be hungry today but you will starve the following year !

Designer Trevor Creed has retired, he was a brit and he was responsible for trying to make the hatchback common in Chrysler cars, look at the Caliber, and magnum. He actually succeeded Tom Gale. Now Ralph Gilles is the head of car design, and according to my conversation with him, he gets that Chrysler needs to again be a design leader like they once were. Also Tom Gale has again joined the "new" Chrysler as an advisor on the design team and this is great news for Chrysler. Dailmer totally ruined Chrysler design and the entier company, now they have to undo everything Daimler that hurt Chrysler.
