My bent is for classical as well.
Tchaikovsky, Bach, Grieg

But I like Gershwin and Copland also.

Modern music from Brubeck, Thelonis Monk and Miles Davis

Country, "Little Big Town"

Chip Davis warms my CD on long trips.(Manheim Steamroller)

"Secret Garden" by Dreamcatcher is for quiet meditation and calming.

"Orinoco Flow" By Enya is for my femme side and if you tell anybody, I KEEL YOU.

A thread back from the dead - Spent 25 years in the music business so my tastes are varied - Worked for Atlantic and helped break Genesis/ Peter Gabriel so I have all that stuff, Old Motown, Jeff Beck, Roy Buchanon, Downes and Wetton (Ichon), Bruce Hornsby, Bryan Ferry, Arcade Fire, The Killers, David Gilmour and some Pink Floyd. then there's a bunch of classical stuff too.

I have a 16 GB USB that I plug into my stereo. It has everything from Benny Goodman and the Andrew Sisters to Aerosmith and Led Zep to Linkin Park and Bullet for my Valentine.

MAN, if I could sing like that - I wouldn't mind lookin like him!
What a coincidence you said that, at the Dragon someone said to me 'pizzaguy reminds me of Meatloaf'.
Naturally I said I saw no resemblance, but I was not wearing my glasses, so I can't say for sure.

Anyone who has every driven behind me at a Dragon GTG knows that I am the original "car star". I have been told that it looks like there is a party in my car with all the singing, dancing & head bobbing. I have car music rules. They are different for daily driving, spirited driving & Dragon driving. Without getting into all the details that would make me seem really crazy - the music must reflect the spirit of the drive/location & I really like to be able to sing along. For example a perfect Dragon song would be AC/DC's Highway to Hell. It might be a little on the nose, but you get where I am going. I also love to listen to Celtic war drums driving the Dragon - sounds odd but the beats perfectly match the back & forth motion of those curves. Sunny day with the top down is U2 Beautiful Day. Blues, R&B & Classic Rock apply to any situation. Stuck in traffic? Ted Nugent Stranglehold is your song. Blow by some jerk on the highway? Aretha Franklin Respect - show them who's boss. Invading a small country? Tchaikovsky 1812 Overture or O Fortuna (dealers choice). Getting pulled over for speeding? Dr. John Right Place Wrong Time.

Like Kim I have different types of music depending on where I'm driving to. If I'm driving on some serious roads (such as the Dragon), then I need to listen to some "serious" music such as the Orb or New Order. For general driving around town, my usual mix of "acid house", New Wave, and '80s music will do.

Ok, maybe some of you country music fans can help me out. There was a song that came out about 20+ years ago that had the lyrics of "$hit happens every day...". For some reason, I cannot find the artist or song title. Anyone able to help me out?

Heck, I thought you were just listening to the Barney song the whole time.
I'll have to digest this list later, I'm heading off to work and listening to whatever is on when I get in the car.

Might be White Lines- Grand Master Flash or in honor of your car star status, I might find Le Freak - Chic.

I found out about a website called Jango. You create your own internet radio station and get to vote on new artists too. I made a station called 40 bravo and its all the good music that the radio never plays. Classic rock and a bit of everything else EXCEPT COUNTRY!

Franc, if you love classical you'll love GWAR

Pooly

PS. I even have the good stuff from the beegees for you to Eric...seriously

My wife was scouring the music sites for some tunes for the trip to Disney World (I'm not going, but that is another story) and she requested a great old '80s tune by Al B. Sure: Nite and Day. I had not listened to this tune in quite some time, but it will now be included on my play list on my Zune.
