I too, remembered vividly hearing the reports live while at work.
It merely confirmed my "World View".
R.I.P.
And never for...give.
Stog, you beat me to it. Patriots Day.

May God bless all of our troops that selflessly defend our freedom. Never stop praying for the people of this nation... We ARE in a holy war, whether the news wants to have the brass to address it as so.
God bless you all, and I ask my fellow believers to take a moment to pray for those families affected, and for those living today to have the resolve to stay strong in Christ.
God bless the USA.

For those who forgot the day, there was an awesome special on the History channel last night. We watched 5 hou+ of film footage that was put together in a continuous presentation.
Not to be partisan in any way, I just wondered what our current president would have done if he had been in office.
Thank you to all who have served our country in uniform and who are currently on duty.

I saw part of the Hist. Channel's presentation. It was interesting and very much like I was seeing it for the first time. I was in the UK when this all happened and it was very surreal. Completely different commentary on this side of the pond as opposed to the other side.

It seemed that, and rightly so, the US coverage was focusing on what was happening and trying to understand who and why.
The UK media was letting the US media cover that, as they was better situated to do so. It is my opinion (and only mine) that while the US got more detailed coverage of the event, the rest of the world got a more 10,000 foot view of how the whole world stopped.
It is amazing to me how you gain a different perspective on a lot of things by stepping out of your own media pool for an extended period of time. I hope that I never lose the change in perception that gave me.

But lets face it, the man had a hard time stringing two sentences together. I'm not anti-Bush, just stating a fact, and making a point of how leadership rises to the occasion when in need.

Your quote above is very important for everyone to read and believe. That's one cool thing about the internet it allows people the ability to do that more often.

I wish we didn't have so much division as Americans. The fact that we seem to work together best during a catastrophe tells me we are not that bad of a people. We just tend to forget. I remember people telling me they were going to church right after 9-11, yet now they stopped going. We do tend to forget.......

Peace,
I know what your saying. I agree with your comments on the American people and it really is a shame how quickly and easily we forget. I also agree with your comment on Mr. Bush, I don't believe you meant it in any type of malicious manner, just an observation. However I feel the need to stand by my comment, even though it was more of an off handed jab. I believe each person in a leadership position will react differently based on what he/she wants to accomplish. As far as the current leader I have two close and trusted friends that know him personally. Based on things that I will not discuss here is why I feel the need to stand by my comment/jab.
FP if you think my comment should be deleted based on the thread that it's in you are more than welcome to delete it or let me know and I'll edit it out. It is in a bit of poor taste to make that comment in a thread to remember 9/11 but I don't want to edit it out now and leave holes in the thread especially when there was quotes done on it, it makes things a little confusing.
No need to edit anything out my friend. This thread started as a tribute to 9/11, and was trying to keep it as that, and not a political discussion. All is good.
Thanks for understanding.
