Default crossfire oil

I'm having problems finding 0w40 synthetic for my engine. I can readily get 5w30. Will this oil work. I live in a warm winter climate or at least not cold.

Do you have an "Autozone" Spares shop OR strangely enough, even our "Walmarts" have it at times.

From a pragmatic standpoint, there is nothing at all wrong with using 5W40 synthetic oil, but just keep in mind that the Crossfire's FSS (Flexible Service System) is engineered to function with 0W40 viscosity Mobil1 oil. Have a look at the Sticky in the Tech/Mods Forum to read all about it.

If you intend to live by the FSS, stick with the Mobil1 0W40. Beyond that, a GOOD 5W40 synthetic will offer all the protection you could ever ask for. It's up to you.

I think you'd be fine with another synthetic 5W40, but not so sure about 5W30.

But really, my local Oreilly's told me they can order Mobil 1 0W40 for the same price as the other weights of synthetic Mobil 1's. Why not just order what the car calls for and not worry about it?

(After the warranty, th'ats what I'll do - but for the next few years, my dealer will be changing my oil.)

I just switched to Castrol 5-40 this April. I don't rely on the FSS to let me know when to do next change, I only drive about 2000 miles a yr. & change oil in spring. But I was impressed with the quiet valve sound on cold start that I wasn't getting with Mobil 0-40.
